This systematic review was conducted to determine the effect of parental presence on the child's pain intensity during invasive procedures. ⋯ Parental presence and parental involvement during invasive procedures effectively reduced the children's pain levels. Since the number of studies with a high level of evidence regarding the effect of family participation on pain level is limited, it is recommended to conduct more randomized controlled studies.

Despite the widespread use of complementary and alternative medicine by patients and physicians alike, there is no accurate evidence regarding the effects of vitamin D supplementation on treatment-induced pain in cancer patients. Thus, the aim of this systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was to evaluate the impact of vitamin D administration on therapy-related pain in subjects diagnosed with malignant disorders. ⋯ Our results suggest that the supplementation with high doses of vitamin D in cancer patients with low serum levels of vitamin D, can be effective in reducing treatment-related pain.

The objective of this systematic review was to identify and describe the psychometric properties of neonatal pain scales that were translated into Brazilian Portuguese and to verify the methodological quality of these translation, transcultural adaptations and validation. ⋯ The neonatal pain scales wich were cross culturally adapted to Brazilian Portuguese were shown to be of low methodological quality based on COSMIM checklist. Caution should be considered for clinical decisions about pain management judgment coming from these instruments.
