Finite element analysis of abdominal aortic aneurysms: predicted rupture risk correlates with aortic wall histology in individual patients.
To evaluate a finite element analysis (FEA) model as a predictive tool for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture risk assessment. ⋯ These preliminary results show that high rupture risk regions estimated by FEA contain increased histopathological degeneration compared to low rupture risk samples within the same AAA. Until now, the role of FEA in predicting individual AAA rupture risk has not been established as a validated diagnostic tool. However, these data provide promising results for FEA model verification.

Aortic remodeling as a prognostic factor for late aortic events after thoracic endovascular aortic repair in type B aortic dissection with patent false lumen.
To assess the significance of aortic remodeling in the prevention of the late aortic events after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for aortic dissection. ⋯ Aortic remodeling after TEVAR is a significant prognostic factor for better long-term results for type B aortic dissection.

To report a rare and complicated case of immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related periaortitis involving both the aortic wall and the retroperitoneum without aneurysmal formation. ⋯ Our report highlights a rare case of IgG4-related periaortitis where complications resulted following steroid therapy and surgical intervention, emphasizing the difficulties in dealing with IgG4-related cardiovascular lesions.

To report our single-center experience with the chimney technique for aortic arch pathologies and the mid- to long-term results in these patients. ⋯ The chimney technique for aortic arch pathologies is safe and feasible and may be an option in patients considered at high risk for surgery or who are ineligible for conventional TEVAR, especially in the emergency setting. Concern persists regarding type I endoleak, and long-term follow-up remains mandatory.
