Case ReportsIgG4 related disease as a cause of isolated retroperitoneal fibrosis with no other organ involvement; Case report.
Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) is a rare disease characterized by the replacement of normal tissue with fibrosis and inflammation. We present the case of a 40-years-old gentleman with RPF whose presenting complaints were bilateral flank pain and weight loss and was found to have IgG4 related disease. To the best of our knowledge, IgG4-related disease with isolated retroperitoneal involvement is a very rare occurrence. ⋯ IgG4 related disease can present with isolated retroperitoneal fibrosis without involvement of other organ systems. The diagnosis should be based on specific criteria. Treatment with corticosteroids can lead to remission both clinically and radiographically.

Experience of a surgeon at the emergency department during COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID pandemic, which started on 11th March as per the World Health Organization, has resulted in a drastic change in health care delivery, including emergency services. Most health workers have deviated towards COVID care delivery; only a few were available for non-COVID conditions. All elective and non-essential services were postponed resulting in the increased burden of the emergency department. The emergency department had to provide essential emergency care with available staff without exposing them to the virus. Triaging of the patients was modified according to the needs. ⋯ There is a delay in accessing the health care delivery for non-COVID conditions resulting in more amputations of limbs and resections of the bowel. So the type of care in the emergency department was changed due to atypical presentation and complicated cases. It is necessary to ensure the provision of high quality health care delivery to non-COVID patients also.

Change in the spectrum of orthopedic trauma: Effects of COVID-19 pandemic in a developing nation during the upsurge; a cross-sectional study.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great impact on orthopedic surgery with a significant curtailment in elective surgeries which is the major bread and butter for orthopedic surgeons. It was also observed that the spectrum of orthopedic trauma injuries has shifted from more severe and frequent road traffic accidents (high energy trauma) to general, low energy house-hold injuries like low energy fractures in the elderly, pediatric fractures, house-hold sharp cut injuries and nail bed lacerations. The aim of this study is to appraise the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on orthopedic surgical practice, both inpatient and outpatient facility. ⋯ The impact of COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed the spectrum of orthopedic injury. More household injuries have occurred and are anticipated due to the ongoing effects of lockdown.

Variations in surgical peer-reviewed publications among editorial board members, associate editors and their respective journal: Towards maintaining academic integrity.
Physician scientists who are also Editorial Board members or Associate Editors may prefer publishing in their own journal and therefore create an environment for conflicts of interest to arise. ⋯ We found significant associations between the total number of annual peer-reviewed publications by Editorial Board Members/Associate Editors and number of annual peer-reviewed publications by their affiliated surgical journals. The implementation and enforcement of a standardized double-blind review process and mandatory reporting of any potential conflicts of interest can reduce possible bias and promote a fair and high-quality peer-review process.
