ReviewUse of acupuncture as a treatment method for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndromes.
Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is the most common category of clinical prostatitis. The etiologic factors of CP/CPPS still remain unknown, and standard therapies often fail to achieve sustainable amelioration of symptoms; therefore, various treatment therapies have been approached. ⋯ In this article, we review the recent clinical research using acupuncture to reveal its clinical utility for CP/CPPS and the possible mechanisms of action. This article could encourage health care providers and urologists to apply acupuncture for managing pains of CP/CPPS with standard treatment.

ReviewRobotic high-intensity focused ultrasound for prostate cancer: what have we learned in 15 years of clinical use?
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is an emerging, noninvasive, local treatment of prostate cancer with 15 years of clinical experience, during which about 30,000 HIFU treatments have been performed worldwide. In this paper, we review relevant publications regarding the means by which new and old prostate cancer technologies are evaluated, the outcomes of HIFU by Ablatherm (EDAP TMS, Lyon, France), and the evolution currently underway regarding how prostate cancer is diagnosed and treated. We show the potential of HIFU to be used as local therapy for men with any stage of prostate cancer and how this additional therapeutic option can fit within the future armamentarium of a sequential multimodal therapy concept.

ReviewA review of methods for hemostasis and renorrhaphy after laparoscopic and robot-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy.
The techniques for management of small renal masses (SRMs) have evolved over the past several years. Radical nephrectomy can lead to an increased risk of chronic kidney disease, and the emphasis is now shifting to nephron-conserving techniques. ⋯ Control of bleeding and management of calyceal injuries can be difficult and make the procedure technically challenging. This review looks at the various modalities that are available to reduce bleeding and reviews some advances in the area of hemostatic maneuvers during laparoscopic partial nephrectomies.
