Case ReportsInfectious arteritis of the internal carotid artery complicating retropharyngeal abscess.
Retropharyngeal abscess is a well-known entity in children, but can also occur in adults. The two main vascular complications are vascular compression and pseudoaneurysm, while infectious arteritis of the internal carotid artery is exceptional. ⋯ This case highlights the importance of thorough examination of imaging performed in the context of deep neck space abscess to detect signs of vascular involvement. Treatment must be aggressive in view of the life-threatening risk of arterial rupture or septic embolism. This is the first reported case of infectious arteritis involving the internal carotid artery complicating retropharyngeal abscess.

Robot-assisted transaxillary thyroidectomy: surgical technique.
Robot-assisted transaxillary thyroid surgery avoids the need for a neck incision. It consists of thyroid lobectomy and isthmectomy for moderately large unilateral benign nodules. The surgical imperatives are the same as for conventional surgery, but with differences in terms of patient positioning, surgical incision, equipment, surgical technique and indications. The purpose of this article is to describe the equipment, patient positioning and surgical technique of exclusive robot-assisted transaxillary total thyroid lobectomy and isthmectomy.

Review Case ReportsCervical necrotizing fasciitis: report of 6 cases and review of literature.
Necrotizing fasciitis in the cervical region is a rare entity, characterized by a fulminant infection that causes extensive necrosis of the subcutaneous tissue and fascial planes, with high mortality and morbidity rates. The origin is generally odontogenic or pharyngeal, involving a mixed flora of microorganisms. Descending infection and mediastinal involvement are usually associated and are the main complications. The aim of the present study was to review the cases treated in our department and analyze diagnosis and treatment, supplementing the understanding of the disease. ⋯ Concerning cervical necrotizing fasciitis, early diagnosis and surgical treatment associated to antibiotics and intensive medical care are essential to obtain a favorable outcome.

Case ReportsCatheterization of post-traumatic parotid duct sialocele.
Parotid duct sialocele is a salivary cavity arising at the expense of the parotid duct. Many cases of parotid sialocele have been published, but very few cases of parotid duct sialocele have been reported. ⋯ Published cases of parotid duct sialocele are rare, as only seven cases were identified in the literature. Several treatment options are available for sialocele involving the parotid gland or parotid duct. Subcutaneous injection of botulinum toxin is commonly used, with good results. Parotid duct catheterization has also been reported, mainly for parotid gland sialoceles. To the best of our knowledge, apart from the present case, the use of this technique for parotid duct sialocele has only been reported once before. This technique is minimally invasive, with very low morbidity and good results.
