A randomized controlled trial comparing gastro-laryngeal tube with endotracheal intubation for airway management in patients undergoing ERCP under general anaesthesia.
Gastro laryngeal tube (GLT) is a newly introduced device. It is an advanced purpose specific design (essentially a modified laryngeal tube) which especially provides a separate wide channel specifically designed for the introduction of a gastroscope for endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP), simultaneously functioning as a supra-glottic airway device for ventilation. ⋯ In this study, likely to be first of its kind, it is concluded that the GLT is a suitable and better alternative to ETT as it allows adequate ventilation and is associated with faster recovery times and minimal extubation-related complications while enhancing operative conditions for gastroenterologists. Its regular use in patients undergoing ERCP is strongly recommended.

A 60-year-old female presented with a 20-year history of progressive dark bluish discoloration of skin and passage of dark colored urine, painful arthritis and a recent history of invasive ductal carcinoma of right breast. Skin biopsy revealed hyaline material which was Periodic-Acid-Schiff stain positive and Congo-red stain negative, urine analysis revealed dark urine with presence reducing substance and radio-imaging showed intervertebral ossification and joint ankyloses. The patient was managed symptomatically with physiotherapy and acetaminophen on as required basis. This image is reported as a classic case of Alkaptonuria with clinical, histopathological and radio-imaging findings and the presence of invasive ductal breast carcinoma in the same patient.

ReviewResearch submission: Some technicalities and vital links.
Publishing allows the author to share with the world his original findings, reasoning, important breakthroughs and it also creates the avenue for mandates of promotion and career upliftment. In an endeavour to publish an article, the first vital technicality that the authors face is selection of an appropriate journal. There has been steady increase in the number of predatory publishers and journals. ⋯ ResearchGate, Mendeley or Scholar Universe are useful sites to collaborate and disseminate research publication in an effective manner. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is another vital technicality that needs to be adopted by the authors before submission of the research work for publication to ensure higher visibility of the published research article in the academic community and increase citations. Thorough understanding of the publication process, following simple technicalities of manuscript submission and establishing vital links in the post publication phase is some of the useful guidelines for shaping up the success story of the research.

Functional outcome after arthroscopic management of traumatic recurrent dislocation shoulder using Bankart repair and Remplissage techniques.
Recurrent dislocation shoulder is one of the common shoulder injuries encountered by the orthopedic surgeon in clinical practice. Bankart repair using the arthroscopic method has become one of the standard techniques in the management of recurrent dislocation shoulder. Remplissage technique can be used as adjunct to Bankart repair in certain conditions. ⋯ The shoulder arthroscopy procedure requires special instrumentation and expertise. We believe that this is a less invasive and safe procedure and provides an additional tool in the management of instabilities including in cases of complex recurrent dislocation of the shoulder.
