Case Reports[Use of dermal substitute Matriderm® in severe injuries of the hand: about one case].
Restoring function after hand burns is still a great surgical challenge. Reconstitution of elasticity and pliability are of utmost importance for hand function and aesthetics results. Dermal substitutes have been developed and have been used for many years. ⋯ After debridement incisions in emergency, early excision and skin graft using Matriderm® were performed. Physical therapy was established at Day 10. At six weeks follow-up, full range of motion was achieved and the patient was able to use his hand in daily activities.

Comparative Study[Fingertip reconstruction with occlusive dressing: clinical results and biological analysis of the dressing content's].
To evaluate the fingertip reconstruction with occlusive dressing and explore the mechanisms and the mediators of this "fingertip regeneration". ⋯ The occlusive dressings remain a reliable and reproducible alternative for treatment of fingertip injuries in zone 1 and 2. This reconstruction seems to depend on bacterium pullulement and cellular growth factors liberation.

Comparative Study[Fractures of the distal radius in patients over 70 years old: Volar plates or K-wires?].
In a growing elderly osteoporotic population, the management of distal radius fractures remains without consensus as to volar distal plate versus K-wires. The goal of this retrospective study was to evaluate these treatments in elderly people. In a series of 38 patients over 70 years, 21 were treated by a volar plate and 17 by percutaneous K-wire fixation. ⋯ However, they analyze only global mean scores. Volar plates give more stability and a higher rate of satisfaction, with similar results of wrist mobility and grasp strength. The main advantage of the plates is earlier return to daily activities.

[Orthopaedic treatment of floating elbow in a child: a case report].
The floating elbow in the child is rare and serious. The authors report a traumatic case of floating elbow without vascular and nervous lesions associated in a 6-year-old child. We treated these both fractures of the distal forearm and the supracondylar humeral by respectively cast plaster and a collar and cuff with an anatomical reduction. The radiological and clinical results were excellent with the 29 months follow-up.

Continuous at-home postoperative analgesia using a catheter in the case of hand surgery: preliminary study about 40 cases.
In hand surgery, ever since continuous at-home postoperative analgesia (CPA) was implemented, procedures which cause pain for more than 24h can now be performed in ambulatory surgery. The aim of our work was to study the feasibility of CPA. Our series comprised 40 patients with a mean age of 50 years. ⋯ However, technical success was almost always achieved. Our results show that the indications for ambulatory surgery could be extended and hospital-private practice networks be further developed. CPA appears to be a promising technique for analgesia and ambulatory surgery.
