Risk of bleeding and arterial thromboembolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation either maintained on a vitamin K antagonist or switched to a non-vitamin K-antagonist oral anticoagulant: a retrospective, matched-cohort study.
Patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who are receiving or have been previously exposed to a vitamin K antagonist could be switched to a non-vitamin K-antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC) but little information is available about the risk of bleeding and arterial thromboembolism after such a switch. We aimed to compare the risk of bleeding between individuals who switched and those who remained on a vitamin K antagonist (non-switchers) in real-world conditions. ⋯ None.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyDulanermin with rituximab in patients with relapsed indolent B-cell lymphoma: an open-label phase 1b/2 randomised study.
Dulanermin-a non-polyhistidine-tagged soluble recombinant human apoptosis ligand 2 (Apo2L) or tumour-necrosis-factor-related apoptosis-inducing-ligand (TRAIL)-has pro-apoptotic activity in a range of cancers and synergistic preclinical activity with rituximab against lymphoma in vivo. We aimed to assess the safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of dulanermin and rituximab in patients with relapsed indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. ⋯ Genentech and Amgen.

Long-term molecular and cytogenetic response and survival outcomes with imatinib 400 mg, imatinib 800 mg, dasatinib, and nilotinib in patients with chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukaemia: retrospective analysis of patient data from five clinical trials.
Several tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are available for treatment of patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia in chronic phase (CML-CP). Non-invasive detection of genomic imbalances in Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg cells in early and advanced stage Hodgkin's lymphoma by sequencing of circulating cell-free DNA: a technical proof-of-principle study.
Hodgkin's lymphoma is one of the most common lymphoid neoplasms in young adults, but the low abundance of neoplastic Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg cells in the tumour hampers the elucidation of its pathogenesis, biology, and diversity. After an incidental observation that genomic aberrations known to occur in Hodgkin's lymphoma were detectable in circulating cell-free DNA, this study was undertaken to investigate whether circulating cell-free DNA can be informative about genomic imbalances in Hodgkin's lymphoma. ⋯ KU Leuven-University of Leuven and University Hospitals Leuven.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA prognostic score for acute graft-versus-host disease based on biomarkers: a multicentre study.
Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is the major cause of non-relapse mortality after allogeneic haemopoietic stem-cell transplantation (SCT). The severity of symptoms at the onset of GVHD does not accurately define risk, and thus most patients are treated alike with high dose systemic corticosteroids. We aimed to define clinically meaningful risk strata for patients with newly diagnosed acute GVHD using plasma biomarkers. ⋯ The National Cancer Institute, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Doris Duke Charitable Fund, the American Cancer Society, and the Judith Devries Fund.
