Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a neuropathic pain that causes a reduction in patients' quality of life. There are many topical drugs for PHN, including topical lidocaine patch, topical application of capsaicin, and others. ⋯ Compared with other topical drugs, lidocaine was the most effective and most tolerable drug to be recommended for PHN.

Single Level Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for Vertebral Hemangiomata - A Review of Outcomes.
Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive technique to treat patients with symptomatic vertebral hermangiomata. ⋯ Percutaneous vertebroplasty is associated with good post-procedural outcomes in patients with vertebral hermangiomata. Complications such as neurological injury and cement leakages are rare.

Pain can be influenced by several factors, including stress. Stress can have various reactions on pain. These reactions are influenced by several internal factors such as gender, age, and experience with stress or pain. ⋯ The increase in PPT was not a clinically significant change, whereas the decrease in CPM was meaningful. None of the factors predicted the stress result in all experimental pain measurements, and the predictions that were observed only explained a small proportion of the observed effects.

Four Complications Associated with Lateral and Oblique Fusion Treatable with Endoscopic Spine Surgery: Technical Note and Case Series.
The lateral fusion procedure is a newer minimally invasive approach to indirectly decompressing and fusing a lumbar motion segment. As with many new procedures, new thoughtful approaches to recognizing and treating the complications of these procedures need to be developed. ⋯ Transforaminal endoscopic surgery is a useful minimally invasive surgical technique to treat several complications associated with lateral and oblique lumbar interbody fusion procedures.

Thoracolumbar or caudal epidural anesthesia affects intracranial pressure (ICP) in both animals and humans. Epidural injection increases ICP at least transiently. Measurement of the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) using ultrasonography is one of the noninvasive methods for ICP assessment. ⋯ Thoracic epidural injection of 10 mL of normal saline resulted in a significant increase of ONSD compared with the baseline. However, the different posture did not affect the increase of ONSD.
