Review Meta Analysis
High Prevalence of Neuropathic Pain Component in Patients with Low Back Pain: Evidence from Meta-Analysis.
Low back pain (LBP) is a complex syndrome which includes a nociceptive (NcP) component, a neuropathic (NeP) component, or a mixture of components (mixed pain). The NeP component (NePC) in LBP is defined as the presence of NeP with or without an NcP. ⋯ Neuropathic pain, nociceptive pain, low back pain, symptom-based questionnaire, chronicity.

The Relationship Between Body Mass Index and Fluoroscopy Time During Intraarticular Hip Injection: A Multicenter Cohort Study.
Higher body mass index (BMI) is associated with difficulty in obtaining imaging studies. While there is a small body of literature regarding the relationship between fluoroscopy time and BMI during injections for pain management, this has not been studied for intraarticular (IA) hip injections. Further, in academic training centers, trainee involvement may affect this relationship. ⋯ Hip, injections, obesity, overweight, body mass index, fluoroscopy, radiation, pain.

Risk factors associated with persistent pain after breast cancer treatment are needed to develop prevention and treatment strategies to improve the quality of life for patients with breast cancer. ⋯ Persistent postsurgical pain, breast cancer treatment, BMI, age, chronic postoperative pain, breast cancer surgery.

Observational Study
Local Brain Activity Differences Between Herpes Zoster and Postherpetic Neuralgia Patients: A Resting-State Functional MRI Study.
Herpes zoster (HZ) can develop into postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), both of which are painful diseases. PHN patients suffer chronic pain and emotional disorders. Previous studies showed that the PHN brain displayed abnormal activity and structural change, but the difference in brain activity between HZ and PHN is still not known. ⋯ Herpes zoster, postherpetic neuralgia, resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI), regional homogeneity (ReHo), fractional aptitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF).

Clinically, chronic low back pain and sciatica associated with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common musculoskeletal disorder. Due to the unawareness of detailed mechanisms, it is difficult to get an effective therapy. ⋯ Lumbar disc herniation, persistent pain, RAGE, STAT3, DRG.
