The objective was to analyze results of the incidence of accidental extubation associated with nursing care. ⋯ 52.78% used tracheal tube and 62% were between 71 and 90 years with an average of days of ventilation of 26.5 days,. There were six (3.27) extubations before and two (1.03) after the deployment of guia. CONCLUSION, there was a decrease in the incidence of accidental extubation in the period studied, but one can not attribute this difference to the guide because other studies are needed.

This article describes the author's experience in living the care and healing in the family member's perspective in a Private Hospital's Emergency unit. The objective of this article is to reflect about the process of communication and its relevance for the nurse's team, the patient and his family in this unit. Some authors that support the idea that communication is the pathway that express the nursing care were used. We pointed some critical points, suggestions for a possible solution and the importance of nursing in this context.

This article presents the importance of the creativity and innovation on health services, distinguishing those concepts. Creative behavior is the improvement of an element or known actions: whereas innovation means finding new alternatives. ⋯ Therefore, creativity and innovation are key elements for improvement and organization, and, more specifically, for Nursing to find alternatives for solving problems related to the occupation as a whole. In this way, this approach brings a strategic tool on the process of management and a differential for the nurse, which by innovating and creating will amaze herself with her potential.

The remaining of piercing in intraoperative can cause damages. This paper had as purpose defining the nursing interventions in the intraoperative and evaluates the complications caused by piercing in the intraoperative. This literature review had 16 articles published from 1994 to 2006. ⋯ We concluded that wearing oral piercing in the intraoperative increases the risk of swallowing and injuries. Furthermore, wearing body jeweIry can cause injuries on the skin during the patient's moving and burns after electrosurgery. Therefore, it is necessay to withdraw the piercing in the preoperative.

Our aim is to describe the clients'perception related to to the admission in the Intensive Care. We have developed a descriptive study based on a qualitative approach in the intensive care in a university hospital in RJ, from May, 2003 to May, 2004. ⋯ We consider that the clients showed some kind of satisfaction related to nursing intensive care, and the problem that really annoys them is the physical and ambiental stressors. The study shows questions that need a continuous discussion considering the stress, once it is a part of the activities and the atmosphere of intensive care and it also detaches the relavence of a work using indicatives of subjective quality in the intensive care.
