Randomized Controlled TrialTumour response heterogeneity as a powerful independent predictor of treatment outcome in advanced lung adenocarcinoma: a retrospective analysis.
Tumour response heterogeneity to treatment is common across different foci in the same patient with cancer. However, the effect of heterogeneity on clinical outcome remains unclear. Here, we developed a quantitative assessment of tumour response heterogeneity and explored the correlation of tumour response heterogeneity with the clinical outcome. ⋯ National Natural Science Foundation of China (grant 82072565) and Bejing Xisike Clinical Oncology Research Foundation (grant Y-2019AZZD-0386).

Multicenter Study Observational StudyEarly detection of hepatocellular carcinoma with methylation and fragmentation signatures of circulating tumour DNA: a prospective, multicentre, case-control, observational study.
Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the deadliest cancers worldwide. Early detection has been shown to enable more effective treatments, thus decreasing morbidity and mortality. Non-invasive cancer detection via circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) has emerged as a promising approach to monitor the molecular changes in liver tumour cells. We aimed to use ctDNA methylation and fragmentation signals to develop a blood-based assay for hepatocellular carcinoma early detection, named HcSeer. ⋯ This study was supported by the National Key Research and Development Program of China (grant number 2019YFC1315800).

Availability of essential medicines for children with cancer in Sri Lanka: a prospective cohort study.
The WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for children (2019 version) contains 39 antineoplastic and supportive medicines deemed essential for the successful treatment of children with cancer. The availability of these medicines varies across countries, but most reports are retrospective or short term. This study tracked the availability of these medicines in Sri Lanka's only treatment centre for childhood cancer, the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka, over 1 year, and examined initial mitigation strategies and implications. ⋯ None.

Factors affecting acceptance of palliative care in mainland China: a national cross-sectional study.
China ranks 53rd in the list of 81 countries included in the Quality of Death and Dying Index 2021. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in China. Although the country is highly burdened with cancer, with 4·5 million new diagnoses and more than 3 million cancer deaths in 2020 alone, palliative care services in mainland China are extremely scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of people towards palliative and hospice care, and to analyse the associations between attitudes and potential explanatory variables. ⋯ The scientific research project of Shaanxi Provincial Education Department, 2021 (grant 21JZ017), and Youth Project of Key Research Bases of Philosophy and Social Sciences in the Sichuan Province (grant YF22-Q13).

Observational StudyFeasibility of self-sampling and human papillomavirus testing in rural and urban areas for cervical cancer prevention in Bolivia: an observational study.
Cervical cancer is a major health problem in Latin America. In 2019, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (La Paz regional site) conducted a pilot study to estimate the prevalence of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) and the feasibility of HPV screening in Bolivia through self-sampling and portable and transportable laboratory instruments for HPV testing in urban and rural areas. ⋯ Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), as a part of an ongoing technical assistance programme with the Bolivian Ministry of Health.
