Work productivity and activity impairment in gastroesophageal reflux disease in Korean full-time employees: a multicentre study.
The costs of gastroesophageal reflux disease have not been assessed in Asia, even though the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease is gradually increasing. We evaluated work presenteeism and absenteeism as indirect costs of gastroesophageal reflux disease in Korea. ⋯ Gastroesophageal reflux disease was associated with substantial work productivity loss, mainly due to presenteeism rather than absenteeism, in Korean full-time employees.

Performance and utility of transient elastography and noninvasive markers of liver fibrosis in primary biliary cirrhosis.
The performance of transient elastography in primary biliary cirrhosis has yet to be fully established. ⋯ Transient elastography proved a simple, reliable and useful method for assessing liver fibrosis in primary biliary cirrhosis, whereas noninvasive surrogate markers proved unsatisfactory in predicting significant fibrosis.

Best strategy of sedation/analgesia in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy is still debated. ⋯ Use of sedation has become a standard practise during GI endoscopy in Italy. Pattern varies for each type of procedure. Pulse oximetry is the most employed system of monitoring. Administration of propofol is still directed by anaesthesiologists.
