The efficacy and safety of additional administration of tacrolimus in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who showed an inadequate response to tocilizumab.
Tocilizumab (TCZ) shows good retention in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but no previous reports demonstrated hopeful treatment options against inadequate response to TCZ. Tacrolimus (TAC) has proved to show efficacy against inadequate response to tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors, yet its add-on effects on TCZ remain unknown. ⋯ Adding low-dose TAC to inadequate responders to TCZ may be a promising complementary treatment option.

Near-infrared fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green-lactosomes in a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis.
The early diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is important to reduce joint destruction. Many of the current imaging techniques have disadvantages, such as the need for contrast agents and interpretation by specialists. Fluorescence imaging is an emerging technique that overcomes some of these problems. The aim of this study was to determine whether near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging of indocyanine green (ICG)-lactosomes can detect joint inflammation in a mouse model of RA. ⋯ NIR fluorescence imaging of ICG-lactosomes detects arthritic joints in a mouse model of RA. ICG-lactosomes may preferentially localize to inflamed joints via enhanced permeability and retention.

Time lag between the initiation of adalimumab after methotrexate correlates with the efficacy of adalimumab in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of adalimumab (ADA) and methotrexate (MTX) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and investigate critical factors associated with efficacy. ⋯ Clinical outcomes were correlated with the time lag between MTX and the initiation of ADA, not disease duration. Early initiation of ADA after MTX might improve clinical outcomes.

The efficacy of abatacept in Japanese patients with rheumatoid arthritis: 104 weeks radiographic and clinical results in clinical practice.
We aimed to assess the efficacy of abatacept in Japanese patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in clinical practice. ⋯ This study suggested efficacy of abatacept treatment in Japanese patient with RA for 104 weeks in daily clinical practice. Abatacept lead to suppress joint destruction for 104 weeks.

Observational StudyPreventing delayed union after distal shortening oblique osteotomy of metatarsals in the rheumatoid forefoot.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the surgical methods to prevent delayed union after the distal shortening oblique osteotomy of the lesser metatarsals in the rheumatoid forefoot. ⋯ A combination of techniques that included dripping normal saline on the oscillating saw, ligating the osteotomy sites, and suturing the periosteum at the osteotomy sites decreased the frequency of delayed union after the distal shortening oblique osteotomy of the metatarsals in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
