Benefits of combination therapy of hydrocortisone, ascorbic acid and thiamine in sepsis and septic shock: A systematic review.
Sepsis and septic shock are severe medical conditions that can damage multiple organs with a higher risk of mortality. Recently, the combination of hydrocortisone, ascorbic acid and thiamine (HAT) was hypothesized to work synergistically to reverse septic shock and reduce mortality. ⋯ Due to inconsistent results from clinical studies, the benefits of HAT therapy cannot be confirmed at this point in sepsis and septic shock. Currently, there are at least 20 randomized controlled trials testing HAT in various combinations and dosages in patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. The results of these studies are required before definitive conclusions can be made regarding the impact of this novel treatment strategy on the morbidity and mortality of patients with sepsis.

Eating behaviors in sailors of the United States Navy: Meal-to-sleep intervals.
Due to their long workdays and erratic watch schedules, sailors on United States Navy (USN) ships often eat meals close to their bedtime, which may contribute to sleep disruption. ⋯ Sailors on two-section watchbills often eat quite close to bedtime. To provide appropriate recommendations regarding healthy dietary patterns, we will continue assessing dietary behaviors and food choices of sailors while underway, especially as they relate to sailor work hours, circadian rhythms, and sleep practices.

Multicenter StudyValidation of the modified NUTRIC score on critically ill Jordanian patients: A retrospective study.
Nutritional status has been proven to be associated with poor outcomes in mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care units (ICU). Nutritional assessment has been assessed using different tools. Few data are available on the validity of the modified Nutrition Risk Assessment Tool for Critically Ill (mNUTRIC) score in ICU patients receiving mechanical ventilation (MV). ⋯ This study showed new evidence on the validity of the mNUTRIC as a tool for assessing nutritional risk in an ICU population in Jordan. The mNUTRIC score obtained from the current retrospective data suggests that the use of the tool can truly identify and diagnose critically ill patients with malnutrition.

How does mindful eating without non-judgement, mindfulness and self-compassion relate to motivations to eat palatable foods in a student population?
Previous research acknowledges the impact mindfulness, mindful eating and self-compassion has upon weight regulation and motives to eat palatable foods, with mindful eating showing an increased impact of eating behaviours. Some research has identified that present moment awareness should be the primary focus of mindful eating. ⋯ Possible explanations and future directions are discussed further with an emphasis on the need for more empirical work. In addition, suggestions are provided regarding the reinterpretation of elements that are investigated and explored in eating literature.
