Case ReportsSystemic thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy in severe acute ischemic stroke after dabigatran reversal with idarucizumab.
Patients presenting with an acute ischemic stroke despite dabigatran therapy (last intake <24 h or unknown) should be evaluated for reversal by idarucizumab, making them eligible for safe and effective intravenous thrombolysis. It has been shown to be feasible, well-tolerated, and easy to manage in an emergency room or stroke unit.

Case ReportsLiposomal bupivacaine for the management of postsurgical donor site pain in patients with burn injuries: a case series from two institutions.
Donor site pain associated with skin graft procedures is frequently intense and difficult to treat. Liposomal bupivacaine, a prolonged-release local anesthetic indicated for single-dose administration to produce postsurgical analgesia, may be a viable option in managing donor site pain.

Case ReportsSpinal epidural hematoma following a thoracic epidural in a child with sickle cell disease.
Acute liver dysfunction in the perioperative period may increase the risk of epidural hematoma in a patient with a neuraxial catheter. Coagulation testing needs to be carefully monitored in these patients. An epidural hematoma should be ruled out urgently by CT or MRI in cases of a persistent motor block.

Case ReportsDeep brain stimulation in the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis and medial forebrain bundle in a patient with major depressive disorder and anorexia nervosa.
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) may be considered in severe cases of therapy-refractory major depressive disorder (MDD). However, DBS for MDD is still an experimental therapy. Therefore, it should only be administered in clinical studies driven by multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons with substantial experience of DBS in the treatment of other conditions.

Case ReportsThromboelastometry-guided blood transfusion in septic shock complicated with disseminated intravascular coagulation: a case report.
Approximately 25-50% of septic patients develop disseminated intravascular coagulation. The thromboelastometry evaluates whole blood clot formation and dissolution in real time and has been considered for management of bleeding in diverse clinical conditions. We present a case of thromboelastometry-guided bleeding management of a septic shock patient with overt disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
