Comparative StudyUtility of Follow-up Radiographs After Pin Removal in Supracondylar Humerus Fractures: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
Displaced supracondylar humerus fractures (SCFs) are common pediatric injuries, typically treated by closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (CRPP). Radiographs are obtained at pin removal and subsequently to evaluate fracture healing. We evaluated the utility of radiographs obtained after pin removal in pediatric SCF management. ⋯ Level III, retrospective comparative study.

A Restrictive Hemoglobin Transfusion Threshold of Less Than 7 g/dL Decreases Blood Utilization Without Compromising Outcomes in Patients With Hip Fractures.
In patients with hip fracture, a transfusion threshold of hemoglobin (Hb) <8 g/dL is associated with similar or better outcomes than more liberal thresholds. Whether a more restrictive threshold of <7 g/dL Hb produces equivalent outcomes in such patients is unknown. The aim of the study was to examine whether a restrictive threshold of <7 g/dL Hb is safe in this population. ⋯ Level III, retrospective cohort study.

Comparative StudyA Comparison of Patient-Centered Outcome Measures to Evaluate Dysphagia and Dysphonia After Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion.
Dysphagia and dysphonia are the most common complications after anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion (ACDF). No consensus system exists currently in the spine literature for the classification of these conditions postoperatively. ⋯ This was a prospective cohort study of consecutive patients.

Utilization and Real-world Effectiveness of Tranexamic Use in Shoulder Arthroplasty: A Population-based Study.
Tranexamic acid (TXA) is increasingly used to reduce blood loss in lower extremity arthroplasty, but limited data exist for its effectiveness in patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty. We aimed to use national data to assess the frequency of use and effectiveness of TXA in patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty. ⋯ Level III.
