To investigate antibody production in asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Most asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients produced the neutralizing antibody, although the titers were lower than pneumonia patients. ELISA and FIA sensitively detected anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

Complications of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) include coagulopathy. We performed a meta-analysis on the association of COVID-19 severity with changes in hemostatic parameters. ⋯ Significant hemostatic changes are associated with COVID-19 severity. Considering the risk of fatal complications with residual chronic disability and poor long-term outcomes, further studies should investigate the prognostic role of hemostatic parameters in COVID-19 patients.

We performed pulmonary function (PF) tests and factors affecting PF evaluation in 120 patients with inhalation injury to evaluate the effects of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in burn patients with inhalation injury. Patients were randomized into pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) group and conventional rehabilitation (CON) group. PF tests, including forced vital capacity (FVC), 1-s forced expiratory volume FEV1), maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV), and respiratory muscles strength (maximal expiratory pressure (MEP) and maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP)), were measured by mouth pressure meter in the sitting position. ⋯ There were no differences between the PR group and CON group after 12 weeks rehabilitation in the other parameters (p > 0.05). PR for patients with major burns and smoke inhalation induced improved PCF, MIP, MIP (%), DLco (%), and DM. These results show that PR should be a fundamental component of the treatment program for patients with burns.

Self-efficacy beliefs are associated with less physical impairment and pain intensity in people with chronic pain. Interventions that build self-efficacy beliefs may foster behavioral changes among this population. A non-randomized trial has been carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of pain neuroscience education (PNE) plus usual care in modifying self-efficacy beliefs, pain intensity, pain interference and analgesics consumption in people with chronic musculoskeletal pain. ⋯ Knowledge of pain neurophysiology did not modify the effects of PNE plus usual care in any of the outcome measures. These results should be taken with caution because of the non-randomized nature of this design, the limited follow-ups and the uncertainty of the presence of clinical changes in self-efficacy for participants. Larger, methodological sound trials are needed.

Minimal residual disease (MRD) detection represents a sensitive tool to appropriately measure the response obtained with therapies for multiple myeloma (MM). The achievement of MRD negativity has superseded the conventional complete response (CR) and has been proposed as a surrogate endpoint for progression-free survival and overall survival. Several techniques are available for the detection of MRD inside (next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry) and outside (PET/CT, magnetic resonance) the bone marrow, and their complementary use allows a precise definition of the efficacy of anti-myeloma treatments. This review summarizes MRD data and results from previous clinical trials, highlights open issues related to the role of MRD in MM and discusses how MRD could be implemented in clinical practice to inform on patient prognosis and drive therapeutic decisions.
