Lung cancer screening in Australia and New Zealand: the evidence and the challenge.
Lung cancer remains the commonest cause of cancer death in Australia and New Zealand. Targeted screening of individuals at highest risk of lung cancer aims to detect early stage disease, which may be amenable to potentially curative treatment. ⋯ With the recent release of findings from large international trials, the evidence and experience in lung cancer screening has broadened. This article discusses the latest evidence and implications for Australia and New Zealand.

The treatment options for patients with melanoma have expanded significantly over the past decade. In particular, the use of targeted therapy and immunotherapy has dramatically transformed the outlook for patients with advanced disease. These treatments are now being utilised as adjuvant therapy for patients with earlier stage melanoma after surgical resection. We review the latest updates for melanoma staging, surgical resection, radiotherapy and systemic therapies.

The effects of beta-blockers in patients with stress cardiomyopathy.
Beta-blockers are often used in the treatment of patients with stress cardiomyopathy without firm evidence of benefit. We conducted a retrospective case note review investigating the effects of beta-blockers on QT interval and heart rate in patients with stress cardiomyopathy over 3 days of hospital admission. We found no evidence of effects on QT interval from beta-blocker treatment in this condition.
