[Can Preoperative Peak Expiratory Flow Predict Postoperative Pulmonary Complications in Lung Cancer Patients Undergoing Lobectomy?]
Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs), especially postoperative pneumonia (POP), directly affect the rapid recovery of lung cancer patients after surgery. Peak expiratory flow (PEF) can reflect airway patency and cough efficiency. Moreover, cough impairment may lead to accumulation of pulmonary secretions which can increase the risk of PPCs. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of preoperative PEF on PPCs in patients with lung cancer. ⋯ Preoperative PEF and PPCs are correlated, and PEF may be used as a predictor of PPCs.

[Preoperatiove Airway Bacterial Colonization: the Missing Link between Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Following Lobectomy and Postoperative Pneumonia?]
Surgical procedure is the main method of treating lung cancer. Meanwhile, postoperative pneumonia (POP) is the major cause of perioperative mortality in lung cancer surgery. The preoperative pathogenic airway bacterial colonization is an independent risk factor causing postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC). This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the relationship between preoperative pathogenic airway bacterial colonization and POP in lung cancer and to identify the high-risk factors of preoperative pathogenic airway bacterial colonization. ⋯ An intimate correlation was observed between POP and pathogenic airway bacterial colonization in lung cancer. The high-risk factors of pathogenic airway bacterial colonization were age and smoking index.

Review[Progress of PD-1/PD-L1 Inhibitors in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer].
Pembrolizumab, an inhibitor target programmed death 1 (PD-1), was approved into the first line therapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It was a milestone that immune checkpoints drugs have played an important role in the treatment system of NSCLC. The results of clinical trials revealed the superiority of PD-1/programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors compared with chemotherapy in first-line, second-line and multidrug resistance phase therapy. ⋯ PD-L1 expression was a predictor of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors. The positive rate of PD-L1 (more than 1%) in advanced NSCLC was about 60% with little difference between the tissue types. However, there was no gold standard test of PD-L1 expression.

[Measurements of Pulmonary Artery Size for Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and Clinical Application].
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) often leads to dilatation of main pulmonary artery (MPA). MPA measurements can be used to predict PH. This aim of this study is to investigate power of MPA vessel indices, which are acquired from cardiovascular magnetic resonance, to evaluate PH. ⋯ Noninvasive cardiovascular-magnetic-resonance-derived MPA measurements provide excellent and practical reference in clinical settings for detecting PH.

[Propensity Score Matching Analysis of VATS Lobectomy and Sublobar Resection for Stage I Lung Adenocarcinoma].
National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines recommend video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) anatomical lobectomy as the first choice for the treatment of resectable lung cancer. However, sublobar resection offers significantly better functional preservation compared with lobectomy for stage I lung cancer. At present, the inferiority of sublobar resection to lobectomy is still uncertain. Herein, we compared the prognoses of these two types of surgical treatment for stage I lung adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Sublobar resection could achieve a similar prognosis to VATS lobectomy for stage Ia lung adenocarcinoma. Lobectomy should still be the first choice for the treatment of stage Ib lung adenocarcinoma.
