The objective of the current study was to determine whether homocysteine elevations precede the development of pre-eclampsia, and to examine the relationship between the occurrence of pre-eclampsia and the degree of hyperhomocysteinemia, so as to find a new prognostic parameter for women with liable to develop pre-eclampsia. The study comprised 103 pregnant females chosen of those attending the Antenatal Care Unit at Benha University Hospital and accepted to donate blood samples at the 16th week of gestation. Women, who delivered at Benha University Hospital, were retrospectively allocated into two groups: Control group (Group C): comprised 64 (71.1%) parturient, who completed their full term pregnancy without the development of pre-eclampsia. ⋯ Also, a negative significant correlation was reported between parity and the fasting plasma tHcys level in pre-eclamptic parturient. The present results showed a significant increase of fasting plasma tHcys level in obese women with a positive significant correlation between fasting plasma tHcys level and BMI in PEc group. Thus, it can be concluded that hyperhomocysteinemia is an indirect risk factor for placental vasculopathy predating clinical pre-eclampsia, and can be used as a biomarker for identifying women at risk of complications and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Ketoprofen lysine salt (Oki Fiale, PG060) is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory agent frequently administered by intramuscular route in association regimen with other drugs, such as steroidal anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxant, local anaesthetic and anti-spastic drugs or vitamins. The aim of this study was to investigate the physicochemical compatibility between ketoprofen lysine salt (Oki Fiale, PG060) and other injectable drugs frequently used in association. ⋯ Results show that the association of Oki Fiale (PG060) with different drugs does not cause, up to three hours from mixing, any significant variation in the physicochemical parameters mentioned above. In conclusion, the results obtained demonstrated the physicochemical compatibility of Ketoprofen lysine salt (Oki Fiale, PG060) with several injectable drugs, except for Spasmex fiale (chemical incompatibility) and Xylocaina Astra 2% iniettabile mixed whit a volume ratio of 2/1 (physical incompatibility).

Ketoprofen lysine salt (Artrosilene Fiale), a non steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, is frequently administered in association regimen with other drugs, such as steroidal anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxant, local anaesthetic and anti-spastic drugs or vitamins. The aim of this study was to investigate the physicochemical compatibility between ketoprofen lysine salt (Artrosilene Fiale) and other injectable drugs frequently used in association. ⋯ Results show that the association of Artrosilene Fiale with different drugs and vitamins does not cause, up to three hours f rom mixing, any significant variation in thephysicochemical parameters mentioned above, except for the association with Benexor B12 where a persistent phase separation occurs. In conclusion the results obtained demonstrated the physicochemical compatibility of Ketoprofen lysine salt (Artrosilene Fiale) with diverse drugs and vitamins, with a single exception.

Prosopis africana gum was evaluated for use in the formulation of gels. The rate of release of salicylic acid from gels prepared from prosoopis gum was investigated. The rate of permeation of the drug through the gel was also evaluated. ⋯ Incorporation of surfactants did not enhance the release of the drug. However the low release and permeation rates may be due to the poor water solubility of the incorporated drug. Correlation of the quantity of drug released with viscosity shows that drug release was dependent on the viscosity of the gels; the highly viscous gels showed slower release rates.
