Previous research has demonstrated that the employee deviance imposes enormous costs on organizational performance and productivity. Similar research supports the positive effect of favorable supervisor feedback on employee job performance. In light of such, it is important to understand the interaction between supervisor feedback environment and employee deviant behavior to streamline organization operations. ⋯ Study findings suggest that when employees (nurses in this case) perceive an appropriate supervisor-provided feedback environment, their deviance is suppressed because of the related reduction in work-related stressors. Thus, to decrease deviant behavior, organizations may foster supervisor integration of disseminated knowledge such as (a) how to improve employees' actual performance, (b) how to effectively clarify expected performance, and (c) how to improve continuous performance feedback. If supervisors absorb this integrated feedback knowledge, they should be in a better position to enhance their own daily interactions with nurses and reduce nurses' work-related stress and, consequently, decrease deviant behavior.

There is a lack of research exploring the influence of the role implementation process of family caregivers of older people with dementia in Taiwan. ⋯ Greater attention, support, and consultation should be directed at caregivers with low mutuality, less preparedness, and less balance between competing needs. Specifically, family caregivers with low mutuality are at risk of higher role strain and more depressive symptoms. Those in such a category should be identified and should receive intervention as early as possible. Interventions to enhance family caregiver preparedness should be developed to increase caregiving rewards and to improve caregiver mental health.

Nursing home residents usually suffer from a variety of medical conditions and are prescribed a wider variety of medications than any other subpopulation. Polypharmacy is associated with the occurrence of adverse events. ⋯ This study surveyed and described the pattern of medication use in nursing home residents from admission to the end of life. Results can be used to reinforce clinician and nursing staff awareness of prescription frequency, amounts of medication, and change over time for elderly residents under their care. In addition to safer prescribing practices for the older people, nonpharmacological strategies (e.g., lifestyle modification and physiotherapy for function training) may be used to address common symptoms and complaints during chronic care.

Critical thinking is essential in nursing practice. Promoting critical thinking competence in clinical nurses is an important way to improve problem solving and decision-making competence to further improve the quality of patient care. However, using an adequate tool to test nurses' critical thinking competence and disposition may provide the reference criteria for clinical nurse characterization, training planning, and resource allocation for human resource management. ⋯ Nursing experience and clinical ladders positively affect critical thinking competence and disposition. Issues of critical thinking competence increasingly need to be measured. Therefore, appropriate tools for nursing professions should be further developed and explored for specific areas of practice.

Understanding the interactive relationships between demographics and work-related variables, job stress, job stress coping strategies, and job satisfaction for operating room (OR) nurses is important. ⋯ Major suggestions of this study include the following: (a) hospitals should ensure set standard operating procedures for the OR, strengthen the designed-in security of the OR working environment, and provide adequate safety protection equipment to safeguard OR staff and patients; (b) the OR department should increase the quantity and the quality of stress relief courses; (c) the OR department should improve the OR environment and the administrative management skills; and (d) the OR department should offer self-esteem-related training programs to assist OR nursing staff to adopt constructive stress coping strategies.
