Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Tracheal intubation with a flexible fibreoptic scope or the McGrath videolaryngoscope in simulated difficult airway scenarios: A manikin study.
Flexible fibreoptic endoscopic (FFE) intubation is considered the 'gold-standard' when difficult airway management is anticipated. Several videolaryngoscopes have been developed to facilitate intubation by laryngoscopy. ⋯ The McGrath videolaryngoscope is a valuable device with higher success rate and a quicker performance in simulated difficult airways. In patients, videolaryngoscopy may have a role in difficult airway algorithms, but the optimal device has yet to be found.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyGlideScope videolaryngoscope versus flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope for awake intubation of morbidly obese patient with predicted difficult intubation.
Awake fiberoptic intubation is the gold standard for management of predicted difficult intubation. The purpose of this study was to test whether Glide Scope video laryngoscopy (GVL) will provide significant advantages over fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) for awake intubation in morbidly obese patients with predicted difficult intubation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that intubation using GVL is faster than intubation with FOB. ⋯ GVL can be used as a useful alternative to FOB in morbidly obese patients with predicted difficult intubation.

Clinical experience with the C-Mac videolaryngoscope in morbidly obese patients.
The use of videolaryngoscopes is recommended as a part of routine practice in anaesthesia for morbidly obese patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate C-Mac in a group of morbidly obese patients to see if it improves intubation conditions. ⋯ The C-Mac improves laryngeal view in morbidly obese patients, and allows for fast endotracheal intubation.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA comparison of performance of endotracheal intubation using the Levitan FPS optical stylet or Lary-Flex videolaryngoscope in morbidly obese patients.
The use of videolaryngoscopes is recommended for morbidly obese patients. The aim of the study was to evaluate the Levitan FPS optical stylet (Levitan) vs Lafy-Flex videolaryngoscope (Lary-Flex) in a group of MO patients. ⋯ The Lary-Flex videolaryngoscope and the Levitan FPS optical stylet improve the laryngeal visualization in morbidly obese patients, allowing for fast endotracheal intubation, but Lary-Flex produces less cardiovascular response to intubation attempt.
