Ultrasound-guided Serratus Anterior Plane Block Versus Paravertebral Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Children Undergoing Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery: A Randomized, Comparative Study.
This study compared the postoperative analgesic efficacy of serratus anterior plane block (SAPB) and thoracic paravertebral block (PVB) in children undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. ⋯ SAPB provides effective postoperative pain control, similar to thoracic PVB. Moreover, it is technically easier and has a shorter time to perform than PVB. Therefore, SAPB is an effective and safe alternative to thoracic PVB.

Dose-response of epidural ropivacaine with 0.4 μg mL-1 of dexmedetomidine for labor analgesia: A prospective double-blinded study.
Studies have shown that the ideal dose of epidural dexmedetomidine is 0.4 μg mL-1 for epidural labor analgesia. However, the appropriate dose of ropivacaine when combined with 0.4 μg mL-1 of dexmedetomidine for epidural labor analgesia is still unknown. Therefore, we aimed to determine the dose-response of ropivacaine when using 0.4 μg mL-1 of dexmedetomidine as epidural adjuvant for labor analgesia. ⋯ Under the condition of the study, a bolus of 12 mL ropivacaine 0.086% and dexmedetomidine 0.4 μg mL-1 could afford 95% of nulliparous singleton pregnant patients without suffering labor pain after a test dose of lidocaine 45 mg.

Inadequate postoperative analgesia greatly affects the recovery of patients, can poses a substantial health and economic burden. Patient-controlled analgesia is the most commonly used method for postoperative pain relief. However, the situation of inadequate analgesia still exists. Artificial intelligent Patient-controlled analgesia (Ai-PCA) system can make it easier for medical staff to understand the pain level of patients in order to deal with it in time. So far, several studies have investigated anesthesiologists' knowledge and management of Ai-PCA. ⋯ Our findings revealed the score of practice regarding Ai-PCA are very poor among anesthesiologists in east China's Jiangsu Province. The utilization of Ai-PCA was found to be impacted by whether the individual had received training. This calls for a comprehensive approach should be conducted for raising the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of anesthesiologist on using Ai-PCA and more Ai-PCA training to be included in the daily learning.
