To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of physical and mental exercise on cognitive performance in middle-aged people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). ⋯ Mind-body exercise can improve cognitive performance, depressive status, and balance as well as increase αβ1-42 protein levels and decrease Tau protein levels in middle-aged and older adults with mild cognitive impairment.

Periodontitis is increasingly associated with heart failure, and the goal of this study was to develop and validate a prediction model based on machine learning algorithms for the risk of heart failure in middle-aged and elderly participants with periodontitis. We analyzed data from a total of 2876 participants with a history of periodontitis from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2009 to 2014, with a training set of 1980 subjects with periodontitis from the NHANES 2009 to 2012 and an external validation set of 896 subjects from the NHANES 2013 to 2014. The independent risk factors for heart failure were identified using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. ⋯ K-nearest neighbor model got the best prediction performance across all models. Out of 6 machine learning models, the K-nearest neighbor algorithm model performed the best. The prediction model offers early, individualized diagnosis and treatment plans and assists in identifying the risk of heart failure occurrence in middle-aged and elderly patients with periodontitis.

To understand and analyze the prevalence and treatment of hypertension among residents aged 45 years and older in northern and southern Anhui Province to provide an opportunity to improve awareness, taking into account and standardizing hypertension management. Using a stratified cluster random sampling method, Anhui Province was divided into northern and southern Anhui regions using the Yangtze River as the boundary. The prevalence rate, awareness rate, treatment rate, control rate, related risk factors and complications of hypertension in the community population aged ≥ 45 years in Anhui Province were investigated using a questionnaire survey and a physical examination. ⋯ The risk factors for hypertension were older age, rural residence, male, obesity, low education level, high salt diet, smoking, excessive drinking, poor sleep, insufficient exercise, a family history of hypertension, a history of diabetes, and a history of hyperlipidemia. The most common complication of hypertension in middle-aged and elderly people in Anhui Province was cerebrovascular disease, followed by cardiovascular disease. Calcium channel blockers were the most commonly used antihypertensive drugs in middle-aged and elderly people in Anhui Province, followed by angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker receptor antagonists.

Transient osteoporosis of the hip is described as an uncommon, self-limiting condition that typically affects middle-aged men and pregnant women in their third trimester. Transient osteoporosis most commonly affects the hip, but cases have been described in the knee, ankle, and foot. ⋯ Transient osteoporosis of the hip is a self-limiting disease process that requires only symptomatic treatment such as basic analgesia, physical therapy, and activity modification. On average, recovery is seen within 6-12 months.
