Limited evidence exists for endovascular first-line treatment of Spetzler-Martin (SM) grade III brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). In this article, we sought to evaluate advanced endovascular techniques for treating SM III AVMs across different sizes, eloquence, and patterns of venous drainage. ⋯ Although morbidity is non-negligible , endovascular treatment of SM grade III lesions with advanced techniques offers up to 100% rates of cure, which is of high interest, especially for ruptured deep-seated eloquent AVMs with high reruptured rates, and less amenable to microsurgery techniques.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) affects 20% to 30% of patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). This review synthesizes clinical evidence indicating that CPB-induced hemolysis plays a pivotal role in the development of AKI. ⋯ Current clinical data support the potential efficacy of these treatments. Our analysis concludes that sufficient proof of concept exists to further develop and test these targeted therapies for preventing hemoglobin-induced AKI in patients undergoing CPB.

Increasing the practices to reduce the patients' fear of pain should be recommended.
