To identify the prevalence of chronic disease and behavior risk factors of adverse pregnancy outcome for pre-pregnancy couples in Hunan province, China. A retrospective study including cross-sectional datas from the Free Pre-pregnancy Health Check (FPHC) surveillance system of Hunan, China in 2019 was conducted. Microsoft Excel 2010 was used for preliminary data analysis. ⋯ The mean number of risk factors was higher in males than that in females. Hypertension, increased psychological pressure, high alanine transaminase and creatinine levels, smoking, passive smoke exposure, alcohol use, and exposure to dangerous environmental factors were the major risk factors for males. Anemia, work-related pressure and social tensions were the major risk factors for females.

Few studies have clarified the use of complementary therapies (CTs) in France. The main objective of this preliminary study was to evaluate knowledge of CTs in 4 representative groups of patients: patients suffering from cancer, patients presenting with a chronic noncancerous disease, chronic dialysis patients and nonchronic or cancerous patients needing surgery. A formalized questionnaire was designed by 2 psychologists, an oncologist and an anesthesiologist in charge of the Pain Clinic and Support Care Unit. ⋯ There were no differences between aware and unaware patients in gender (P = .27), age (P = .24), level of education (p = 0.24) or professional occupation (P = .06). Knowledge about CTs was significantly different among the different categories of patients (P = .03), with the only statistically significant difference between groups being between oncologic patients receiving ambulatory chemotherapy and patients presenting with a chronic noncancerous disease (P = .004). This preliminary study clearly highlights that patients and health caregivers are not aware of CTs and that there is a need for better communication about CTs.

The objectives of this research project are to study in patients with primary myelofibrosis (PMF) and Essential Thrombocythemia (ET); (1) the uptake patterns of FLT-PET (FLT-PET) and its value in diagnosing, staging, and treatment response monitoring of malignant hematopoiesis, (2) compare imaging findings from FLT-PET with bone marrow biopsy (standard of care), and (3) associate FLT-PET uptake patterns with genetic makeup such as JAK2 (Janus kinase 2), CALR (Calreticulin), MPL (myeloproliferative leukemia protein), Triple negative disease, and allele burden. This trial is registered in ClinicalTrials.gov with number NCT03116542. Protocol version: Mar 2017.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread worldwide, causing significant stress on the medical system. We explored the risk factors for condition changes in COVID-19 pneumonia patients after admission. The patients diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia at 2 medical centers in Hunan Province were studied, and those whose conditions changed after admission were compared. ⋯ We found that age, neutrophil ratio, D-dimer, chest Computed tomograpgy (CT) changes, and glucocorticoid use were risk factors for COVID-19 pneumonia after admission. Elderly patients are more susceptible to disease changes after COVID-19 pneumonia; COVID-19 pneumonia patients who develop disease changes after admission have higher neutrophil ratios, increased D-dimer levels, chest imaging changes, and glucocorticoid usage. Additional research is needed.
