Randomized Controlled Trial
Biomarkers of postmenopausal osteoporosis and interventive mechanism of catgut embedding in acupoints.
Postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP), which is a common and frequently occurring age-related metabolic bone disease in perimenopausal women, severely affects patients living quality. Modern medicine therapies for PMOP have several problems such as side reactions, low compliance, and high costs. Thus, nonpharmacological modality is urgently needed. Although acupoint thread embedding treatment is widely used in clinical practice, there is no persuasive evidence of its effect on increasing bone mass for PMOP. This experiment aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of acupoint thread embedding on PMOP and elucidate the correlations among brain neural activation, bone mineral density (BMD), and clinical outcomes with magnetic resonance evidence, thus to explore its neural mechanism. ⋯ We present study design and rationale to explore the effectiveness and neural mechanism of acupoint thread embedding for PMOP through these outcomes.

Diabetes is a common chronic metabolic disease. COVID-19 is a large-scale infectious disease that broke out in 2019, and 212 countries have now been infected with this infectious disease. Some studies have shown that COVID-19 combined with diabetes is an independent risk factor for death or other adverse outcomes. There is currently no specific and effective drug treatment. More and more people have realized that the low-cost CQ and its derivative HCQ have antiviral and anti-inflammatory capabilities and may play a huge role in the fight against COVID-19. At the same time, HCQ can be used as an oral hypoglycemic agent and has the effect of lowering blood glucose. However, there is no evidence-based medicine to confirm the effectiveness and safety of CQ and HCQ in the treatment of COVID-19 patients with diabetes. Therefore, we will conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to synthesize the existing clinical evidences. ⋯ INPLASY202070109.

Patients with the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) often see their respiratory, physical, and psychological functions impaired to varying degrees, especially for the elderly patients. Timely respiratory rehabilitation intervention for such patients may improve their prognoses. However, its relative effectiveness has not been proved. Therefore, this study is purposed to determine the effect of respiratory rehabilitation on elderly patients with COVID-19. ⋯ The private information collected from individuals will not be published. And this systematic review will also not involve impairing the participants' rights. Ethical approval is not required. The results may be published in a peer-reviewed journal or disseminated in relevant conferences.

Observational Study
Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin as an early predictor of contrast-induced nephropathy following endovascular therapy for arteriosclerosis obliterans.
Serum creatinine (SCr) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) are standard biomarkers of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). However, recent studies suggest that serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (sNGAL) and urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (uNGAL) may be better predictors, particularly within 24 hours of contrast medium exposure. We conducted a prospective, observational cohort study of 107 consecutive patients diagnosed with arteriosclerosis obliterans between February 2016 and October 2018. ⋯ Similarly, uNGAL levels correlated with SCr and eGFR at baseline, 24, and 48 hours post-exposure. sNGAL and uNGAL were significantly elevated as early as 6 hours post-catheterization in the CIN group, whereas only minor changes were observed in the non-CIN group. SCr was also significantly elevated in the CIN group, but not until 24 hours post-catheterization. Both sNGAL and uNGAL may be superior to SCr and eGFR as early biomarkers of CIN in patients with peripheral vascular disease undergoing endovascular therapy.
