Primary bladder mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma: A case report and literature review.
Primary bladder mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a rare tumor. To date, the PubMed database contains only 39 English articles covering 63 cases of primary bladder MALT lymphoma. Herein, we report a case of this disease and review the current literature. ⋯ Primary bladder MALT lymphoma is a rare disease and can be easily missed or misdiagnosed before achieving a histological confirmation. Surgery may be the best choice for both diagnosis and treatment.

Cervus and cucumis peptides combined umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells therapy for rheumatoid arthritis.
Cervus and cucumis peptides (Lugua polypeptides, LG) are traditional Chinese medicine, which are active components of polypeptide extracted from Sika deer bone and melon seed, and they contain bone induced polypeptide biological factors. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell, (UC-MSC) have tissue repair multiple effects, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation function, which become a very promising start in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment. Hence, LG combined UC-MSC can significantly enhance the UC-MSC treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ The Health Assessment Questionnaire; the 28 joint disease activity score; C reactive protein; the erythrocyte sedimentation rate; rheumatoid factor; and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody were significantly reduced in treatment group 1 year after treatment (P < .05). In vitro, compared with the control group, the number of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), the secretion of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and tumor necrosis factor-inducible gene 6 protein (TSG6) increased significantly (P < .05). LG combined UC-MSCs can significantly improve the curative effect of RA patients, while LG may reduce inflammatory cytokines, regulate immunity, improve microcirculation, and are conducive to UC-MSCs migration and the repair of damaged tissue.

Cost-utility of new film-coated tablet formulation of deferasirox vs deferoxamine among major beta-thalassemia patients in Iran.
Thalassemia is a hereditary disease, which caused economic burden in developing countries. This study evaluated the cost utility of new formulation of deferasirox (Jadenu) vs deferoxamine (Desferal) among B-Thalassemia-major patients from payer perspective in Iran. ⋯ Based on this analysis, film-coated deferasirox appeared to be cost-effective treatment in comparison with Desferal for managing child and adult chronic iron overload in B-thalassemia major patients of Iran.

Perihematomal edema surrounding spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage by CT: Ellipsoidal versus morphometric volumetry.
Perihematomal edema (PHE) surrounding intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) may contribute to disease-associated morbidity. Before quantifying PHE's effects on morbidity, a fast, accurate, and reproducible method for measuring PHE volume is needed. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the use of a semiautomated dual clustering segmentation algorithm to generate PHE volumetrics on noncontrast computed tomography (CT) of the head and compare this technique to physicians' manual calculations. ⋯ There was a good correlation between measurements performed by neurologists using ABC/2 and the volume measurements generated by the algorithm for ICH (0.69) and PHE (0.70). There was a fair correlation between measurements performed by neuroradiologists using ABC/2 and volume measurements generated by the algorithm for ICH (0.47) and good correlation for PHE (0.73). Although the ABC/2 method for measuring PHE is quick and practical, algorithms that do not assume ellipsoidal shape may be more accurate.

Primary malignant melanoma of esophagus (PMME) is a rare malignant tumor of esophagus. This study aimed to investigate the clinic pathologic characteristics and analyze the factors that might affect the prognosis of PMME patients. A total of 20 PMME patients who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital from 1975 to 2017 were analyzed. ⋯ Multivariate analysis showed that tumor node metastasis (TNM) staging was the independent prognostic factor for survival of PMME patients (hazard ratio [95% confidence interval], 4.15 [1.36-12.67]; P = .012). For PMME patients, tumors with deeper invasion were more likely to have LNM, and TNM staging was an independent predictor of prognosis for survival. Early detection of the disease and radical resection of the tumor are critical for better survival of the PMME patients.
