A single-center analysis of primary nephrotic syndrome with acute pancreatitis in children.
Primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) is one of the most common primary glomerular diseases in children. Patients complicated nephrotic syndrome with pancreatic lesions are rarely reported, and the clinical manifestations in children are atypical. This study has observed the incidence, clinical types, and prognosis of acute pancreatitis (AP) in children with primary nephrotic syndrome, and analyzed its related factors, early diagnosis, and treatment. ⋯ Abdominal ultrasound and enhanced CT are of high value in diagnosis. The adverse effects of tacrolimus should be concerned. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can be helpful for a prognosis.

It is imperative to further the understanding of the drug resistance mechanisms of ovarian cancer (OC) and to identify useful biological markers for prognosis prediction. Cormine, cBioportal, and The Cancer Genome Atlas databases were used to search microarray data of gene methylation related to OC, drug resistance in OC, and prognosis, and to analyze methylated genes potentially inducing the drug resistance in OC. Fifty-five DNA-methylated genes significantly associated with drug resistance in OC were screened, and the regulatory mechanisms underlying changes in methylation levels of these genes were systematically integrated. ⋯ Among the 55 genes, 4 were significantly associated with OC prognostic disease-free survival, namely bromodomain containing 4, PDZ domain containing 1 (PDZK1), phosphatase and tensin homolog, and TNF receptor superfamily member 10c; 5 were significantly related to overall survival, namely bromodomain containing 4, PDZK1, PIK3C2B, Rh associated glycoprotein, and DYRK; among them, the degree of methylation of TNF receptor superfamily member 10c, PDZK1, and Rh associated glycoprotein genes was significantly correlated with mRNA expression. Furthermore, PDZK1, Rh associated glycoprotein, and TNF receptor superfamily member 10c genes showed significant hypomethylation in drug-resistance tissues of OC, and their mRNAs had significantly high expression. The association between the methylation of these 55 genes and OC and drug resistance in OC, in addition to bioinformatics analyses clarify the important mechanisms of gene methylation in the development, progression, and drug resistance of OC.

Many genetic diseases are known to have distinctive facial phenotypes, which are highly informative to provide an opportunity for automated detection. However, the diagnostic performance of artificial intelligence to identify genetic diseases with facial phenotypes requires further investigation. The objectives of this systematic review and meta-analysis are to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of artificial intelligence to identify the genetic diseases with face phenotypes and then find the best algorithm. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/P9KUH.

Disabled-2 (Dab2) is a clathrin and cargo-binding endocytic adaptor protein that plays a role in cellular trafficking of low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR). However, little is known about its involvement in coronary artery disease (CAD). Here, we aimed to investigate the association between Dab2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and CAD in Chinese Han and Uyghur populations. ⋯ After multivariate adjustment in the Han population, we speculate that rs285512 A allele and rs2255280 A allele may be potentially associated with the onset of coronary heart disease. Individuals with the AA genotype had an OR of 1.44 (95% CI: 1.10-1.88, P = .01, rs2855512) and 1.41 (95% CI: 1.08-1.85, P = .01, rs2255280) for CAD compared with individuals with the AC or CC genotype, respectively. Our data indicates that the AA genotype of rs2855512 and rs2255280 in the Dab2 gene may be a genetic marker of CAD risk in Chinese Han population.

Prevalence of food allergen and aeroallergen sensitization among children in Sichuan province.
Food allergen and aeroallergen sensitization are common allergic diseases worldwide, with widely varying estimates of prevalence in children. Our study investigated the characteristics of ingestion and inhalation allergy among children from Sichuan province in Southwest China, so as to get public awareness of these disorders. A total of 1722 children between 0 and 14 years' old were enrolled in this study. ⋯ Boys are more susceptible to aeroallergen than girls. Furthermore, the prevalence of ingestion and inhalation allergy varies from different age groups, and has no correlation with nutritional status. In brief, the analysis of the pattern of food allergen and aeroallergen sensitization is invaluable to effective diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases.
