There is a high prevalence rate of peripheral artery disease worldwide, with estimated cases exceeding 200 million. Most patients are under-diagnosed and under-treated, and there is a lack of knowledge regarding the best therapeutic regimen and therapy duration, which leads to many cases of recurrence, complications, and amputations. This study aims to explore clinical recurrence, which was defined as the worsening of chronic peripheral artery disease requiring hospital admission, and its relationship with antiplatelet drug resistance among patients with lower limb ischemia. ⋯ No significant association was found in terms of laboratory resistance. The clinical recurrence rates of chronic lower limb ischemia were higher in younger patients and among those with low platelet counts in the severe stages of the disease. Despite the laboratory responsiveness to anti-platelet therapy, we observed significant clinical resistance and increased recurrence rates.

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) affects 8% to 16% of the global population, yet TMJOA remains relatively underappreciated clinically. To anesthesiologists, who is concerned about patient safety, adequate preoperative evaluation and preparation, as well as individualized anesthetic management of patients, are necessary. Therefore, the anesthesiologist should be alert for difficult airways due to TMJOA, have a full and comprehensive understanding of the disease, and possess the appropriate expertise for difficult airway intubation. ⋯ Intubation using a lightwand for patients with difficult intubation due to TMJOA is a very effective intubation modality.

Intravascular/intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a peculiar variant of uterine leiomyoma that is classified as a histologically benign smooth muscle tumor with a biological behavior similar to that of a malignant tumor. It is characterized by the proliferation of leiomyomas spreading along the uterine and extrauterine venous circulation. ⋯ Two cases in the study showed 2 different proceeding stages of the same disease and corroborated multiple pathogeneses, which have been mentioned in the available literature on IVL. Our work provides both supplement for clinical data to facilitate further research and better understanding of special types of fibroids to clinicians.

Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with chronic diseases is an important tool to measure patient-reported health outcomes and evaluate the usefulness of treatment, management, and rehabilitation programs. Patients with chronic diseases are more likely than those without to experience psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress, all of which can affect HRQoL. This study evaluated the impact of psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress on HRQoL in people with and without chronic diseases in South Korea. ⋯ These results emphasize the need to explore intervention measures that can reduce depression in patients with chronic diseases and anxiety in patients without chronic diseases to improve their HRQoL. In addition, national efforts are needed to provide economic support, as economic status is an influential factor in HRQoL regardless of the presence of chronic disease. The study's limitations include the fact that neither did it consider disease severity among chronically ill patients nor did it examine all the variables affecting HRQoL.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and fatal lung disease with clinical and pathological heterogeneity. Recent studies have identified cuproptosis as a novel cell death mechanism. However, the role of cuproptosis-related genes in the pathogenesis of IPF is still unclear. ⋯ Ultimately, 2 validated diagnostic biomarkers of IPF, CDKN2A and NEDD4, were obtained. Subsequently, the results were validated in GSE47460. Our investigation illustrates that CDKN2A and NEDD4 may be valid biomarkers that were useful for IPF diagnosis and copper-related clustering.
