Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic, progressive lung disease characterized by excessive scarring of lung tissue, and its pathophysiological mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. Immune cells play a key role in many diseases, and this study aims to explore the causal link between immune cell characteristics and pulmonary fibrosis using Mendelian randomization. Utilizing the public GWAS database Open GWAS, this study collected whole-genome association study datasets of peripheral blood immune phenotypes and summary data of GWAS related to pulmonary fibrosis. ⋯ In contrast, CD8 + T cell subgroups were associated with an increased risk. This study provides evidence of a causal relationship between immune cell characteristics and pulmonary fibrosis, highlighting the protective role of regulatory T cells and specific NK cell subgroups, as well as the potential harm of CD8 + T cell subgroups. These findings offer new insights into the immunoregulatory mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis and the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Dengue fever is a frequently occurring infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. Chaishi Jiedu Granules (CSJD) is an empirical prescription of the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University in the treatment of dengue fever, which has been widely used in the treatment of dengue fever, and has shown good efficacy in improving the clinical symptoms of patients. ⋯ Among them, luteolin and wogonin in CSJD also inhibited dengue virus replication and reduced inflammation, and showed good binding force with IL-6 and TNF. Therefore, this study provides an important reference for the development of CSJD as a potential drug for dengue fever treatment and a new perspective for research and development in this field.

A newborn with convulsions 12 days after birth was misdiagnosed as neonatal intracranial hemorrhage: Case report.
Cases with early diagnosis of neonatal tuberous sclerosis syndrome (TSC) are relatively seldom seen, and misdiagnosis of intracranial hemorrhage is even more rare. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of a case of neonatal tuberous sclerosis with atypical early symptoms and misdiagnosed as more common intracranial hemorrhage of the newborn. ⋯ The TSC of neonatal tuberous sclerosis is different from that of older children. It is usually characterized by respiratory distress and arrhythmia, and may be accompanied by convulsions, but the activity between attacks is normal. However, neonatal intracranial hemorrhage can be caused by premature delivery, birth injury, hypoxia, etc. Its characteristics are acute onset, severe illness, and rapid progression. Consequently, the diagnosis of these 2 diseases should not only be based on medical imaging, but also be combined with their clinical characteristics. When the imaging features are inconsistent with the clinical diagnosis, a comprehensive evaluation should be made again. The timing and pattern of onset of neonatal convulsions can help in differential diagnosis. If there is cardiac rhabdomyoma, subependymal or cortical nodule, skin low melanoma, etc, the possibility of neonatal TSC should be considered, and the diagnosis should be made according to its diagnostic criteria to avoid or reduce misdiagnosis.

With the emergence of Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, Taiwan has encountered the greatest coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic since 2022 spring. We analyzed the characteristics, vaccinations, and outcomes of hospitalized COVID-19 patients quarantined in a dedicated ward. This retrospective study enrolled hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the dedicated wards of a district hospital in southern Taiwan from May 2022 to July 2022. ⋯ Age, Charlson Comorbidity Index, and quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score were recognized as strong prognostic indicators for mortality in multivariable analysis. Vaccination demonstrated significant lower odds of death among relatively young populations in subgroup analysis. COVID-19 vaccination had significant efficacy in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the relatively young group, and the effect may decline among individuals with advanced age and multiple comorbidities.

Pelvic metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary site: A case report and brief literature review.
Cancer with unknown primary site is a kind of disease that is difficult to deal with clinically, accounting for 2% to 9% of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. Here, we report such a case with pelvic metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of an unknown primary site and review the relevant literature. ⋯ Our case demonstrates that surgery combined with chemotherapy could be helpful for pelvic metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary site.
