Multiple system atrophy with oculomotor abnormalities as a prominent manifestation: A case series.
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a group of adult-onset sporadic neurodegenerative diseases, mainly classified as MSA-C and MSA-P types. Due to the diversity of clinical symptoms, diagnosis faces a significant challenge. In the present case, we report a patient with isolated vertigo as the first presentation and abnormalities of the oculomotor system as the characteristic manifestations. ⋯ Atypical early clinical presentation may lead to delays, and identifying the critical problem through the patient simple clinical status requires long-term clinical experience and various ancillary examination tools.

The Descemet layer is a dense layer of tissue that does not detach under normal circumstances. Descemet layer detachment may occur after intraocular surgery, but the Descemet layer spontaneously detached after trauma in this child, which is relatively rare. After looking for the cause, we found that the child was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, and the trauma induced the Descemet's membrane detachment. ⋯ The analysis of the disease is not only to solve the problems seen but also to deeply analyze the internal causes and pathological changes in combination with the symptoms and signs, so as to discover the essence of the problem and solve the fundamental problem of the patient.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease involving multiple systems. Central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating syndromes are one of the rare neurological manifestations of SLE, whose diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis are rarely reported. Belimumab, an anti-BAFF monoclonal antibody, has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of SLE. We aimed to assess the effects of belimumab on demyelinating syndromes in patients with SLE. ⋯ Belimumab could be an effective and safe option for the treatment of SLE demyelination. In addition, PBX1 might be a potential biomarker for the clinical diagnosis of lupus in patients with demyelinating syndrome.

To evaluate the diagnostic value of combination of D-dimer and Doppler Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) based on clinical data for vascular dementia (VaD). In this study, 100 cases of initial VaD were diagnosed by Zhenjiang Fourth People Hospital as VaD group, and 100 healthy were engaged as control group, medical history and test results were collected for evaluation. ⋯ D-dimer and IMT are significantly increased in the initial onset of cerebrovascular diseases, and combined detection of them is conducive to early diagnosis and evaluation of the disease. Given the limitations of D-dimer and IMT, combined detection is more conducive to early diagnosis and prognosis, and can be used as screening and routine examination items, even evaluate the severity of cognitive decline.

Progress in acute myeloid leukaemia treatment is occurring at an unprecedented pace. The past decade has witnessed an increasingly improved scientific understanding of the underlying biology of acute myeloid leukaemia, leading to enhanced prognostication tools and refined risk assessments, and most especially incorporating measurable residual disease (MRD) into longitudinal risk assessments. ⋯ Treatment options have evolved substantially in the last 5 years for patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukaemia, leading to improved outcomes in intensively treated patients and those more appropriate for non-intensive chemotherapy. More effective targeted treatment options in the relapsed setting are also available, further advancing the treatment armamentarium and improving patient outcomes.
