Lung cancer in never smokers (LCNS) has been considered as a separate disease and the 7th cause of cancer-related death worldwide. However, limited research has focused on "female" cohorts, which have presented a higher incidence rate. In this study, the microarray data of lung cancer tissues derived from 54 female lung cancer patients, consisting of 43 nonsmokers and 11 smokers, were selected from GSE2109 dataset. ⋯ Then, survival analysis by Kaplan-Meier (K-M) Plotter online platform presented down-regulated gene colony stimulating factor 2 receptor beta common subunit (CSF2RB) of female LCNS might be involved in poor clinical outcome. Female LCNS with high expression of CSF2RB might be relevant with relative risk reduction of mortality, longer median survival time and higher 5-year survival rate, while female LCNS with low expression of CSF2RB might be implicated in a poor clinical outcome. In short, our results support CSF2RB to be a candidate survival predictor for female LCNS.

Pheochromocytomas are a group of tumors with high genetic heterogeneity, and the clinical characteristics of rearranged during transfection (RET)-mutated pheochromocytoma with medullary spongiform kidney are rarely studied. The treatment process of 1 patient with bilateral adrenal pheochromocytoma combined with medullary sponge kidney with RET gene mutation in our department was retrospectively analyzed, and the treatment methods for this type of disease were studied and summarized in combination with relevant literature. ⋯ On the basis of adequate perioperative preparation, surgical resection is the most effective and preferred treatment for this type of disease. Laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive, safe, and effective by stages. Mutations in the RET proto-oncogene may lead to medullary spongy kidneys in multiple endocrine neoplasia 2.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is considered a risk factor for severe COVID-19, but the mechanism remains unknown. This study used bioinformatics to help define the relationship between these diseases. The GSE147507 (COVID-19), GSE126848 (NAFLD), and GSE63067 (NAFLD-2) datasets were screened using the Gene Expression Omnibus. ⋯ This study identified key gene and defined molecular mechanisms associated with the progression of COVID-19 and NAFLD. COVID-19 and NAFLD progression may regulate ferroptosis through the CYBB-hsa-miR-196a/b-5p-TUG1 axis. This study provides additional drug options for the treatment of COVID-19 combined with NAFLD disease.

The aim of this article is to utilize ultrasound to evaluate the normal cross-sectional area (CSA)of the vagus nerve (VN) in the carotid sheath. This study included 86 VNs in 43 healthy subjects (15 men, 28 women); mean age 42.1 years and mean body mass index 26.2 kg/m2. For each subject, the bilateral VNs were identified by US at the anterolateral neck within the common carotid sheaths. ⋯ The right VN CSA was significantly larger than the left VN (P < .012). No statistically significant correlation was noted in relation to height, weight, and age. We believe that the reference values for the normal CSA of the VN obtained in our study, could help in the sonographic evaluation of VN enlargement, as it relates to the diagnosis of various diseases affecting the VN.

Meta Analysis
Effects of empowerment education on patients after percutaneous coronary intervention: A meta-analysis and systematic review.
Empowerment education is a new nursing education model with great significance in the process of chronic disease rehabilitation, and a number of studies have found that it has good benefits for patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). But there is no meta-analysis on how empowerment education influence the life of patients after PCI. ⋯ A data-analysis researcher and 3 clinicians are responsible for the writing, and no patients participated in the writing of this paper.
