In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic due to the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, and several governments have planned a national quarantine to control the spread of the virus. Acute psychological effects during hospitalization in frail elderly individuals with special needs, such as patients with dementia, have been little studied. The greatest distress manifested by these kinds of patients was isolation from their families during hospitalization. ⋯ Significant differences were found in all clinical variables of the caregiver group. Results showed a significant relationship in the quality of life score between the patient and caregiver groups. The results of this study has highlighted the importance of maintaining significantly effective relationships during the hospitalization period of patients admitted to COVID wards.

Surgery is a common form of management for Crohn disease (CD) in the presence of intra-abdominal complications. In this study, we investigated the effect of various factors on the development of postoperative complications in patients who underwent surgery for complicated CD. Patients who underwent surgery between 2011 and 2018 were included in this study. ⋯ Patient age, smoking status, steroid use, perianal disease, presence of stoma, and presence of extra intestinal findings were significantly higher in the complicated group. Surgery may be inevitable for CD in the presence of complications. In cases of patient age, smoking, steroid use, perianal disease, stoma opening, and presence of extra intestinal findings, patients with CD who undergo surgery should be followed up closely in terms of the development of complications.

Frailty can change the prognosis and treatment approach of chronic diseases. We, therefore, conducted this study to explore the relationship between frailty syndrome and blood pressure variability in the elderly. The clinical data of 150 elderly patients with debilitating syndrome admitted to the neurology department of our hospital from May 2021 to May 2022 were selected, and they were grouped according to Fried debilitation scale and divided into 50 cases each in the debilitation group, pre-debilitation group, and no-debilitation group. ⋯ Age, type of medication taken, co-morbidities, serum ALB, and HDL are influencing factors of debilitating syndrome. Serum ALB and HDL are protective factors against debilitating syndrome in the elderly. Age is an independent risk factor of debilitation in the elderly and increased fluctuation of blood pressure in the elderly can increase their risk of developing debilitating syndrome.

The most common tubal disease leading to infertility occurs in the distal region, manifesting as hydrosalpinx. Tubal surgery is an effective alternative treatment. However, subpopulations that benefit the most from tubal repair surgery remain unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the natural pregnancy outcomes of patients with hydrosalpinx after reproductive surgery and those with different grades of hydrosalpinx. ⋯ Patients with mild to moderate hydrosalpinx will benefit more from reproductive surgery to improve natural pregnancy outcomes. However, the small sample size in our study needs to be further expanded, and the grouping needs to be more refined, such as grouping based on age. This may provide more guidance in clinical practice.

Review Case Reports
Multiple cholesterol granulomas of the breast: A case report and review of the literature.
Cholesterol granuloma of the breast is a rare disease defined as chronic reactive inflammation of cholesterol crystals and foreign body giant cells. This disease can mimic breast cancer in the clinic as painless palpable hard nodules, and imaging shows irregular hypoechoic nodules with unclear boundaries. Therefore, the uncommon lesions can be easily misdiagnosed as breast cancer. Meanwhile, it can be easily neglected by clinicians because of poor understanding. ⋯ By retrospective analysis, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and core needle biopsy can synergistically help clinicians distinguish it from other breast disease. To raise awareness of such a rare disease and reduce related misdiagnoses, we summarize the characteristics of cholesterol granulomas and recommend appropriate novel diagnosis and treatment regimens for patients with cholesterol granulomas.
