This study aimed to investigate the correlation between beta-2 microglobulin (B2M) concentration and some nerve conduction indices and evaluate the changes in some nerve conduction indices after treatment with hemodialysis (HD) combined with hemodiafiltration online in end-stage renal disease patients. From July 2021 to July 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 80 end-stage renal disease patients on HD at Can Tho General Hospital, Viet Nam. All the patients had B2M testing and nerve conduction measurements. ⋯ With the tibial nerve, motor conduction V increased from 30.53 ± 8.05 m/s to 43.56 ± 8.99 m/s and the A increased from 5.04 ± 3.16 mV to 7.75 ± 4.45 mV. With the ulnar nerve, the A increased, and motor latency decreased after 6 months. The nerve conduction indices also improved significantly in the median nerve.

The objective of this study is to assess the change trends of perioperative esophageal area for anterior cervical corpectomy fusion (ACCF) and to analyze the risk factors of the area for postoperative dysphagia. We retrospectively analyzed 309 patients who underwent ACCF due to degenerative cervical diseases between November 2015 and September 2019 at our hospital. Patients were divided into 2 groups named the dysphagia group and the normal swallowing function group, according to the swallowing function after ACCF. ⋯ When the esophageal area at preoperation was above 3.388 cm2, the risk of postoperative dysphagia was higher. The esophageal area was the biggest at 1 week postoperatively, significantly decreased over time and would be recovered to the normal size at 12 months after surgery. Preoperative esophageal area should be considered when evaluating the risk factor for dysphagia after ACCF.

The associations between blood urea nitrogen (BUN)/albumin ratio and poor prognosis in patients with diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remain to be clarified. ⋯ This meta-analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between BUN/albumin ratio and poor outcome in patients with COVID-19. Additional large-scale prospective studies are needed to verify our findings.

Effects of ulinastatin therapy in emergency severe multiple trauma: A single-center randomized controlled trial.
Severe multiple traumas are one of the most common diseases and carry a significant financial burden with high disability and mortality. There are no effective drugs in the clinical management of severe multiple traumas, and there is an absence of evidence-based medicine concerning the treatment of severe multiple traumas. ⋯ The findings from the present research indicated that UTIs can improve the clinical outcomes of patients with severe multiple traumas and have fewer adverse reactions.

The objective of this study is to systematically evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of electroacupuncture combined with conventional drugs in the treatment of stable angina pectoris. ⋯ The current study results found that electroacupuncture combined with conventional drugs can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients with stable angina pectoris compared with conventional drug therapy, with a low incidence of adverse reactions, but the number of high-quality literature with rigorous study design protocols is currently low, which may cause bias in the results of this study, so the above conclusions need to be further verified through clinical trials.
