Anti-GQ1b antibody syndrome originates in the peripheral nervous system or the central nervous system. Various overlapping syndromes and atypical manifestations are also seen in clinic. It is rare to see multiple sites (almost all targets) of central and peripheral damage at the same time, resulting in brain death-like changes in patient. ⋯ The concept of anti-GQ1b antibody syndrome is not only beneficial for clinical diagnosis, but also beneficial for understanding the continuous disease spectrum with the same etiology and different clinical manifestations. The pathogenesis of each subtype has not been fully defined. There are mild patients with isolated syndromes and severe patients with multiple subtypes overlapping. Encounter severe patients but also active response, the general prognosis is good.

Hepatolenticular degeneration, also known as Wilson disease (WD), is an autosomal recessive inherited disease characterized by copper metabolism, which has complex clinical manifestations, and mainly including liver and nervous system lesions. Pregnancy combined with WD is extremely harmful to mothers and children, with high miscarriage rates, and premature birth rates and perinatal mortality. ⋯ After comprehensive monitoring and multidisciplinary management of professional medical staff before and after pregnancy, WD pregnant women still have the opportunity to obtain a better pregnancy outcome and improve quality of life.

RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) regulators are essential for a variety of biological functions, such as early development, viral infections, and cancer. However, their roles in Alzheimer disease (AD) are still not very clear. Here, 16 significant m6A regulators were identified using difference analysis between AD patients and non-demented controls based on the GSE132903 dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. ⋯ In addition, we revealed 2 distinct m6A patterns and 2 distinct m6A gene patterns in AD and demonstrated their prognostic and risk assessment significance. This present work comprehensively evaluated the functions of m6A regulators in the diagnosis and subtype classification of AD. These results suggested they have potential prognostic and risk assessment significance in AD.

Spinal dorsal instrumentation (SDI) is an established treatment for degenerative spinal diseases. Adequate and immediate postoperative pain control is important for patient recovery and may be compromised by uncertainty about its efficacy and concern about early postoperative surgical complications or adverse events. The aim of the current study was to compare the use of epidural analgesia (EA) with systemic analgesia (SA) as regards pain reduction and early postoperative complications after SDI. ⋯ We found no difference in infection parameters, length of hospital stay or surgery-related complication rates. Our data demonstrate that epidural anesthesia was inferior to an opioid-based SA regime in reducing postoperative pain in patients undergoing spinal surgery. There is no benefit to the use of epidural catheters.

The objective of this study is to assess the change trends of perioperative esophageal area for anterior cervical corpectomy fusion (ACCF) and to analyze the risk factors of the area for postoperative dysphagia. We retrospectively analyzed 309 patients who underwent ACCF due to degenerative cervical diseases between November 2015 and September 2019 at our hospital. Patients were divided into 2 groups named the dysphagia group and the normal swallowing function group, according to the swallowing function after ACCF. ⋯ When the esophageal area at preoperation was above 3.388 cm2, the risk of postoperative dysphagia was higher. The esophageal area was the biggest at 1 week postoperatively, significantly decreased over time and would be recovered to the normal size at 12 months after surgery. Preoperative esophageal area should be considered when evaluating the risk factor for dysphagia after ACCF.
