Yoga, Physical Therapy, and Back Pain Education for Sleep Quality in Low-Income Racially Diverse Adults with Chronic Low Back Pain: a Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial.
Poor sleep is common among adults with chronic low back pain (cLBP), but the influence of cLBP treatments, such as yoga and physical therapy (PT), on sleep quality is under studied. ⋯ In a sample of adults with cLBP, virtually all with poor sleep quality prior to intervention, modest but statistically significant improvements in sleep quality were observed with both yoga and PT. Irrespective of treatment, clinically important sleep improvements at the end of the intervention were associated with mid-intervention pain and physical function improvements.

Prevalence of low back pain in young Brazilians and associated factors: Sex, physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep and body mass index.
Low back pain (LBP) has become increasingly common, but the prevalence of this complaint and associated factors in young people remains controversial. ⋯ Youngsters reported a high prevalence of LBP. Girls were at greater risk of LBP than boys. It is recommended that prevention strategies focus on the practices of physical activities and scholar physical education. No association of LBP with sedentary lifestyle (TV and computer use time, sleep time), anthropometric measures and sleeping duration was observed.

The Impact of Spondyloarthritis and Joint Symptoms on Health-Related Quality of Life and Fatigue in IBD Patients. Results From a Population-Based Inception Cohort (20-Year Follow-up in the Ibsen Study).
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often suffer from musculoskeletal manifestations. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and fatigue are known to be associated with IBD activity and musculoskeletal complaints. The aim of this study was to determine the association between spondyloarthritis, arthralgia, or back pain and the patient-reported outcomes of HRQoL and fatigue in IBD patients 20 years after their diagnosis. ⋯ Current joint symptoms in IBD patients 20 years after diagnosis were associated with poorer HRQoL, higher levels of fatigue, and chronic fatigue, whereas spondyloarthritis did not impact HRQoL or fatigue negatively in this cohort.

Pain catastrophizing may contribute to the altered trunk muscle activity in patients with nonspecific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP). It is unclear if pain catastrophizing influences static postural control in patients with NSCLBP. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between pain catastrophizing and static postural control in NSCLBP patients. ⋯ Static postural control was associated with pain catastrophizing, voluntary activation of TrA, and age in participants with NSCLBP. This indicated that pain catastrophizing may affect postural control and should be considered when interpreting balance test results and managing NSCLBP.
