Background and Objectives: Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) represents a potential approach to reducing pain in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). The pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block also provides adequate analgesia for fractures and THA. As most hip surgeries use a lateral incision, affecting the cutaneous supply by branches of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN), the LFCN block can contribute to postoperative analgesia. ⋯ Postoperative delirium incidence and the median abbreviated mental test scores were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusions: The combination of PENG and LFCN blocks may contribute to enhanced recovery for patients undergoing LIA after hip fracture surgery. However, further well-controlled research is necessary to determine the effectiveness of supplemental PENG combined with LFCN block in addressing cognitive deficits in these patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Comparison of the effects of transversus thoracic muscle plane block and pecto-intercostal fascial block on postoperative opioid consumption in patients undergoing open cardiac surgery: a prospective randomized study.
There is an association exists between cardiac surgery, performed through median sternotomy, and a considerable postoperative pain. ⋯ Bilateral ultrasound-guided PIFB provided a longer time for the first analgesic demand than bilateral ultrasound-guided TTMPB in patients undergoing open cardiac surgery. In addition to this, the PIFB reported less postoperative morphine usage than the TTMPB and increases satisfaction in these patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial
High frequency electrocoagulation resection effect analysis and prognosis observation in the treatment of patients with gastric polyps under painless gastroscopy.
To explore high frequency electrocoagulation resection effect in treatment of patients with gastric polyps under painless gastroscopy. Sixty-four patients with gastric polyps were randomly divided into experimental group (32 cases) and control group (32 cases). Experimental group received basic treatment drugs for 8 weeks, and then treated with painless gastroscope high-frequency electrocoagulation resection. ⋯ Comprehensive curative effect comparison showed that the experimental group was better (P < .01), showing no difference in long-term efficacy (P > .05). In treating patients with gastric polyps, painless endoscopic high-frequency electrocoagulation resection effect is better, which not only promotes postoperative rehabilitation in patients but also reduces complications incidence, demonstrating a high level of safety. Therefore, it is highly recommended for widespread adoption and application.

Total arch replacement via single upper hemisternotomy approach for aortic aneurysm in syphilis: Case report.
Syphilitic aortic aneurysm is a relatively rare type of cardiovascular syphilis. A small number of patients with syphilitic aortic aneurysms will be accompanied by aortic regurgitation and coronary stenosis. Apart from aortic rupture or dissection, syphilitic aortic aneurysm often causes associated vascular disorders, including left common carotid artery, innominate artery, and celiac artery stenosis or obstruction. ⋯ The upper hemisternotomy has the advantages of faster postoperative recovery, shorter ventilation time, shorter intensive care unit stay, less blood transfusion, and less incisional pain compared with the full sternotomy, which is one of the reasons why we chose this procedure for this patient.

Observational Study
Evaluation of Pain-Related Outcomes After Outpatient Surgical Procedures.
Approximately 8.1 million outpatient surgical procedures were performed in Germany in 2021. Little is known about the quality of postoperative pain treatment in the outpatient sector. ⋯ These data have not been tested for representativeness. They can serve as a point of departure for the optimization of individualized perioperative pain therapy and for the planning of prospective studies.
