Comparison of Endoscopic Facet Joint Denervation to the Percutaneous Technique Regarding Efficacy in Patients With Low Back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
This was a single-center prospective randomized controlled study. ⋯ Percutaneous and endoscopic FJD reduced pain and improved functionality and quality of life. However, the effects decreased or disappeared in the PG after 12 months, whereas there was still a strong significant improvement in the EG.

Analgesics are the most common form of managing low back pain (LBP). No previous study has examined which domains and intensities of physical activity are most beneficial in reducing the frequency of analgesic use for LBP and its related activity limitation. ⋯ We examined which domains and intensities of physical activity are most beneficial in reducing the frequency of analgesic use for low back pain and its related activity limitation. Engaging in moderate-vigorous and leisure physical activity as well as minimizing sedentary time and physical workload has the potential to reduce the risk of activity limitation and the need for analgesic use in people with low back pain.

Risk factors for low back pain (LBP) flares have been considered about self-reported measures. This case-crossover study aimed to investigate whether (1) objective measures of physical activity and sleep were associated with the risk of experiencing LBP flares and (2) these associations differed for flares defined as pain 2 or more points greater than average pain over the period using an 11-point Numerical rating scale (0-no pain and 10-worst pain imaginable) (pain-defined flare: PDF) and flares identified by participants according to a broader definition that considered emotions or coping (self-reported flare [SRF]). We included 126 participants who had experienced LBP for >3 months. ⋯ Longer in-bed time increased the risk of PDF but not SRF. Although physical activity was not associated with the risk of PDF, greater sedentary behaviour increased the risk of SRF and being more physically active decreased the risk for SRF. These results highlight the potential role of targeting sleep and physical activity in interventions to prevent LBP flares and indicate that risk factors differ depending on how LBP flares are defined.

Providing information at the initial consultation to patients with low back pain across general practice, chiropractic and physiotherapy - a cross-sectorial study of Danish primary care.
Clinical guidelines for managing low back pain (LBP) emphasise patient information, patient education and physical activity as key components. Little is known about who actually receives information. This study investigates to what extent information at the first consultation with general practitioner (GP), chiropractor (DC) and physiotherapist (PT) in Danish primary care is provided to patients with LBP. ⋯ In more than a quarter of first-time consultations, patient information was not provided. Large variation in providing information was found across the settings. The proportion provided with information increased for sub-populations having elevated distress or back-related leg pain below the knee.Key Points Clinical guidelines recommend patient information, patient education and physical activity for managing low back pain (LBP) • Information is not provided in more than a quarter of first-time consultations in Danish primary care settings that manage these patients. • Information increased for the sub-populations having elevated distress and back-related leg pain below the knee. • The conducted primary care surveys monitored clinical activity and illustrated variations in provision of information.
