To quantify the extent of patient-level agreement among 3 published measures of low-value imaging for acute low back pain (LBP). ⋯ Our findings demonstrate the need for further consensus surrounding how to translate guideline recommendations to administrative measures that assess overuse of imaging for acute LBP, particularly with respect to defining which patients should be excluded from the measures. This finding is also important for other overuse measures that rely on exclusions.

Recent studies indicate that the assessment of conditioned pain modulation (CPM) responses and emotional factors can provide important information regarding chronification mechanisms, choices for more efficient therapeutic strategies, and clinical variables supporting a therapeutic prognosis. ⋯ 36 subjects with and without NSCLBP.

Low back and neck pain: objective and subjective measures of workplace psychosocial and physical hazards.
This study explored the role of occupational physical activity (OPA), physical demands and psychosocial work-related factors on low back pain (LBP) and neck-shoulder pain (NSP) amongst workers with physically demanding professions. ⋯ Objective measures were not associated with LBP or NSP. Self-reported measures provided insights into potential workplace hazards such as physical demands and job control which can be used to inform future strategies to prevent the development of LBP and NSP.

This study was conducted to investigate the reaction times and symmetry index (SI) of the bilateral trunk and limb muscles between control subjects and subjects with low back pain (LBP) that persisted for two months or longer. ⋯ The delayed non-dominant ES reaction time might indicate a freedom of pain recurrence in the control group. Although the asymmetry increased on the RA and BB muscles in the LBP group, it decreased on the ES muscle. The asymmetries on the trunk and BB muscles were evident in the LBP group. The asymmetrical reactions in the arm-trunk muscles need to be considered for rehabilitation strategies.

Persistent low back and pelvic pain (LBPP) is a postpartum-specific health problem. Sleep disturbances' association with persistent LBPP is not yet clear. We aimed to examine the cross-sectional association between sleep disturbance and persistent LBPP at 4 months postpartum. ⋯ Our findings indicate that sleep disturbance is associated with persistent LBPP at 4 months postpartum; therefore, it should be taken into consideration in postpartum women with persistent LBPP.
