Association Between Bone Maturation, Menstrual Cycle, Hypermobility, Scoliosis, and Low Back Pain in Pre-Professional Female Adolescent Dancers.
Many adult dancers suffer from low back pain (LBP), which interferes with their movement strategies. A group that merits further attention are adolescent dancers as high levels of physical activity are associated with a higher risk to develop LBP. ⋯ Based on the results of current study, delayed bone maturation and menstrual cycle disorders are common in pre-professional female dancers, but this was not related to LBP. Additionally, out of 27 variables, only starting dance activities under age 6 years old, showing hip asymmetry, and showing less internal hip rotation may be contributing factors for the development of LBP in pre-professional dancers.

Process and implementation evaluation of a virtual hospital model of care for low back pain (Back@Home).
Low back pain was the sixth most common reason for an ED visit in 2022-2023 in Australia, one-third of these patients were subsequently admitted to hospital. Therefore, we have assessed whether some patients could be diverted to alternate clinical pathways, via admission to a virtual hospital (rpavirtual), and be cared for remotely in their own homes. ⋯ Preliminary findings suggest that this model of care is a safe, acceptable, and feasible alternative to hospitalisation for non-serious low back pain, in a select cohort of patients meeting inclusion criteria. Further data collection will inform whether Back@Home has had an impact on length of stay or traditional admission rates.

Although chronic low back pain (LBP) is a complex condition often associated with altered motor control and compensatory postural adjustments, existing literature provides inconsistent reports on the underlying control mechanisms for maintaining balance. ⋯ Although no significant group interaction was observed for dominance, direction, and trial, the LBP group demonstrated an ability to leverage fall efficacy following repeated trials to reduce ML balance deficits. Clinicians should consider neuromuscular control and limb dominance when developing fall efficacy strategies for postural adaptations in adults with LBP.

Quadro-iliac plane block (QIPB) is a novel regional anesthesia technique that provides analgesia in the abdominal, lumbar, and hip regions. Case reports about the efficacy of this block in the literature are limited. In this report, we would like to share our successful QIPB experience with a patient with chronic myofascial low back pain.

To investigate positional lumbar changes by weight-bearing MRI in low back pain (LBP) patients with hypermobile joints (Beighton score ≥ 4). ⋯ Hypermobility in LBP patients was associated with being female, younger, having increased lumbar lordosis both during standing and in supine, however, was not associated with increased back pain, anterolisthesis grade or more severe lumbar changes between positions.
