Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with posterior ring apophysis fracture (PRAF) is rather rare in children, and in all age-stratified LDH patients, the incidence of RAF was 5.3% to 7.5%. Interestingly, the incidence of LDH with RAF in children (15%-32%) is several times higher than in adults, the mis-diagnosis of which may lead to delayed treatment. ⋯ Pediatric LDH with PRAF is extremely uncommon, and there is a lack of training among physicians for such cases, which may lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. Once a diagnosis for LDH with PRAF is established, percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy is a safe and effective minimally invasive treatment to be considered, and we hope that this technique can provide more assistance in the future.

Meta Analysis
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy for low back pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To provide high-quality evidence for extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for low back pain (LBP). ⋯ ESWT for LBP has efficacy and safety in improving pain, dysfunction, and psychological conditions compared to other therapies. ESWT has shown advantages in terms of long-term efficacy. Randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes and more objective outcomes are required.

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with scoliosis usually refers to lumbar disc herniation caused by scoliosis, which is a postural compensatory deformity to reduce low back and leg pain, mostly with nonstructural changes. Scoliosis may disappear after the treatment of LDH. ⋯ This case suggests that acupuncture may be an effective alternative treatment for LDH.

Review Case Reports
Campylobacter fetus-induced primary psoas abscess in patient with gouty arthritis: A case report and literature review.
Campylobacter fetus is rare pathogen with high mortality rate in immunosuppressive hosts. This study aimed to summarize clinical and pathological presentation of C fetus induced psoas abscess. ⋯ C fetus should be noticed in immunosuppressive patient with exposure to livestock who present with rare systematic or local invasive infection. We advocated the meropenem for the first-line treatment against C fetus.

Persistent low-back pain (LBP) is highly prevalent in the military. Altered central pain processing is one of the mechanisms found to underlie persistent LBP. Our aim was to explore which factors are associated with altered pain processing in Dutch service members with persistent LBP. ⋯ A higher remote conditioned pain modulation effect was associated with a higher level of physical activity, a higher body mass index and a shorter sitting time. This study succeeded in identifying lifestyle and psychological factors associated with altered pain processing in service members with persistent LBP. Prospective studies are needed to examine causality in these relationships.
