Most studies of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) and painful DPN are conducted in persons with longstanding diabetes. This cross-sectional study aimed to estimate the prevalence of DPN and painful DPN, important risk factors, and the association with mental health in recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes. A total of 5514 (82%) patients (median diabetes duration 4.6 years) enrolled in the Danish Centre for Strategic Research in Type 2 Diabetes cohort responded to a detailed questionnaire on neuropathy and pain. ⋯ Possible DPN and painful DPN were independently and additively associated with lower quality of life, poorer sleep, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Possible DPN itself had greater impact on mental health than neuropathic pain. This large study emphasizes the importance of careful screening for DPN and pain early in the course of type 2 diabetes.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Nepali Version of the Pelvic Girdle Questionnaire.
The purpose of this study was to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and assess the reliability and validity of the Pelvic Girdle Questionnaire (PGQ) in pregnant Nepalese women. ⋯ The Nepali version of the PGQ is a reliable and valid tool for assessing pelvic girdle pain in pregnant Nepalese women.

To compare foot posture, plantar sensation, plantar fascia thickness, intrinsic foot muscle performance, and abductor hallucis morphology in individuals with and without plantar heel pain (PHP). ⋯ Individuals with PHP exhibited a more pronated foot posture, thicker plantar fascia, and diminished plantar tactile sensation.

Pain-avoidance is considered to be one of the major leading factors to develop a chronic low back pain (CLBP). In this study, we aimed to translate the Behavioral Avoidance Test-Back Pain (BAT-Back) into Turkish and evaluate its psychometric properties in patients with CLBP. ⋯ We are of the opinion that, compared to the self-report scales, TrBAT-Back will provide more objective data in detecting avoidance behaviour associated with pain in Turkish speaking patients with CLBP.

Investigation of sumatriptan and ketorolac trometamol in the human experimental model of headache.
Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide-38 (PACAP38) induces headache in healthy volunteers but the precise mechanisms by which PACAP38 leads to headache are unclear. We investigated the headache preventive effect of sumatriptan and ketorolac on PACAP38-induced headache in healthy volunteers. In addition, we explored contribution of vascular mechanisms to PACAP38-induced headache using high resolution magnetic resonance angiography. ⋯ Post-treatment with ketorolac was more effective in attenuating PACAP38-induced headache compared to sumatriptan. Ketorolac exerted its effect without affecting PACAP38-induced arterial dilation, whereas sumatriptan post-treatment attenuated PACAP38-induced dilation of MMA and STA. Pre-treatment with sumatriptan attenuated PACAP38-induced headache without affecting PACAP38-induced arterial dilation. Our findings suggest that ketorolac and sumatriptan attenuated PACAP38-induced headache in healthy volunteers without vascular effects.
