To evaluate the influence of pain sensitization in the early recovery of distal radius fractures (DRFs) on the occurrence and prognosis of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) type I. ⋯ Patients with CRPS I after DRF exhibited significantly higher pain sensitization in the early post-trauma period, and the degree of initial pain sensitization and high-energy injuries were associated with prolonged CRPS I signs and symptoms up to one year after initial injury.

Cross-cultural adaptation of the Neck Pain and Disability Scale: a methodological systematic review.
Neck pain is a common and uncomfortable symptom, adversely affecting the work and life of those affected. The Neck Pain and Disability Scale (NPDS) is widely used in neck pain assessment. It has been cross-culturally adapted into several languages to extend its reach to non-English-speaking countries. The aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the translation procedures and measurement properties of cross-cultural adaptations of the NPDS. ⋯ The Italian (publication 1 and 2), Persian-Iranian, simplified-Chinese-2011, and Thai adaptations show better quality than others with regard to cross-cultural adaptation and measurement properties. Further studies should fully assess the measurement properties of the NPDS in the Dutch (publication 1 and 2), Hindi-Indian, Korean-2013, simplified-Chinese-2010, Turkish-2004, and Turkish-2007 adaptations.

The Feasibility and Efficacy of Ultrasound-Guided C2 Nerve Root Coblation for Cervicogenic Headache.
The cervicogenic headache is a syndrome caused by dysfunction of the upper cervical spine and its component bony, disc, and/or soft tissue elements. The C2 nerve root may play a pivotal role in cervicogenic headache. In this retrospective study, we evaluated the feasibility and efficacy of ultrasound-guided C2 nerve root coblation in managing 26 patients with cervicogenic headache. ⋯ C2 nerve coblation may provide the majority of patients with a pain relief period as long as 24 weeks. And ultrasound guidance is an efficient method with which to perform coblation.

Validity and Reliability of the Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool Among Individuals with Chronic Daily Headache: A Clinic-Based Study.
Fibromyalgia is a common chronic pain disorder typically associated with headache disorders, particularly chronic daily headache. However, fibromyalgia is typically underdiagnosed and undertreated. The Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool questionnaire is a brief, self-administered questionnaire composed of six "yes/no" questions for detecting fibromyalgia. The Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool questionnaire has demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity among patients with chronic diffuse pain conditions. This study assessed the validity and reliability of the aforementioned questionnaire for detecting fibromyalgia among patients with chronic daily headache. ⋯ The Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool is a valid and reliable instrument for identifying fibromyalgia among patients with chronic daily headache.

Case ReportsShould we include monitors to improve assessment of awareness and pain in unconscious palliatively sedated patients? A case report.
Awareness and pain during palliative sedation is typically assessed by observational scales, but the use of such scales has been put into question. ⋯ This case demonstrates the feasibility and potential advantages of using monitoring devices to objectify assessments of pain and discomfort in palliatively sedated patients.
