Observational StudyCancer pain: Results of a prospective study on prognostic indicators of pain intensity including pain syndromes assessment.
Pain is a prevalent symptom in patients with advanced cancer. Recognition of prognostic factors associated with pain intensity, could help provide better assessment, leading to better pain management. ⋯ The recognition of specific pain syndromes may help to better classify cancer pain.

Ultrasound-Guided Erector Spinae Block Versus Ultrasound-Guided Thoracic Paravertebral Block for Pain Relief in Patients With Acute Thoracic Herpes Zoster: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Severe acute pain is a significant risk factor for postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The importance of early management in alleviating zoster pain cannot be overstated. ⋯ Both ESB and PVB were effective in controlling acute pain and persistent herpetic pain after 6 months (which was evident by lower NRS for pain and doses of pregabalin and acetaminophen), but ESB is safer (no reported pneumothorax and hypotension).

Long-term Outcomes of Pulsed Radiofrequency for Supraorbital Neuralgia: A Retrospective Multicentric Study.
Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a percutaneous, micro-invasive, and micro-destructive neuromodulation technology. It has been reported to be useful in the treatment of supraorbital neuralgia (SN). However, the long-term effectiveness and safety of this technique in SN has not been reported yet. ⋯ The performance of PRF for the treatment of SN was confirmed to be favorable in a multicentric, relatively large scale, and long-term perspective.

Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a commonly used, minimally invasive method to treat herpes zoster neuralgia, but the intensity of standard voltage PRF is limited, resulting in patients not getting a lasting therapeutic effect. The therapeutic effect of repeated high-voltage long-duration PRF on acute herpes zoster neuralgia has not been studied. ⋯ Repeated high-voltage long-duration PRF therapy was an effective treatment for acute herpetic neuralgia and may prevent the occurrence of PHN.

Chronic neuropathic groin pain develops in a significant number of postsurgical patients; however, multiple etiologies have been identified, and this makes it a challenging condition to treat. While treatment often involves a multimodal approach, advancements in neuromodulation technology, particularly dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation, have benefited patients plagued by chronic pain refractory to standard treatment modalities. Our goal was to provide a definitive source of information for interventional pain physicians regarding groin pain and the use of DRG stimulation for its treatment. ⋯ DRG stimulation has emerged as an alternative neuromodulatory technique for patients with chronic groin pain. While previous studies suggest substantial sustained pain relief with DRG stimulation in this patient population, prospective randomized controlled studies are necessary before formal recommendations can be made.
