To investigate the distribution and nerve staining of two volumes of lidocaine-dye solution after ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane (ESP) injections in canine cadavers. ⋯ and clinical relevance Medial and lateral branches were consistently stained over several spinal segments. The number of nerves stained was not different with HV or LV, and the ventral branches of the spinal nerves were not stained in any cadaver. ESP block may find a clinical application to desensitize structures innervated by the medial and lateral branches of the dorsal branches of the thoracic spinal nerves.

Effective pain management is essential for successful rehabilitation and enhanced recovery after joint arthroplasty. The Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) has mostly been described for abdominal surgery, but has also recently been applied to hip surgery patients. ⋯ The PSSS technique for TQL block may be beneficial as a part of multimodal analgesia for hip surgeries. This technique may be a safe alternative to psoas compartment block; however, future comparative studies are recommended. The PSSS technique for TQL block also may provide an easy access for catheter insertion.

The aim of this report is to present the technique of selective nerve root blockage combined with posterior percutaneous cervical endoscopic discectomy (PPECD) for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR). ⋯ The application of selective nerve root blockage combined with PPECD for CSR could achieve satisfactory effect of position and decompression of the injured nerve root. Besides, we recommend that surgery be performed under general anesthesia to minimize patients' emotional stress and discomfort.

Teaching ultrasound guided femoral nerve block in the emergency department.
Patients with hip fracture are often not given adequate analgesia in the Emergency Department. Ultrasound guided femoral nerve block is an effective option but it is not commonly used due to limited experience, inadequate training and infrequent clinical exposure. We aimed to develop a workshop to bridge the current gap in the training of ultrasound guided femoral nerve block. ⋯ This workshop met its educational objectives and various principles of medical education were used effectively in the delivery of the content. Further research is necessary to demonstrate the impact of this educational effort on clinical practice and patient outcomes.
