Efficacy and Safety Of Ultrasound Guided Erector Spinae Plane Block Compared To Sham Procedure in Adult Patients With Rib Fractures Presenting To The Emergency Department: A Randomized Control Trial.
The primary objective was to compare the analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) with a sham procedure in adult patients presenting with rib fractures to the emergency department (ED). ⋯ Ultrasound-guided ESPB resulted in significantly reduced pain intensity over the study period and reduced amount of rescue analgesia and had no discernible difference in adverse events when compared with a sham.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of Multiple Injection Costotransverse Block and Erector Spinae Plane Block for Post-Sternotomy Pain Relief in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Comparative Study.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided multiple injection costotransverse block (MICB) and compare it with erector spinae plane block (ESPB) for poststernotomy pain relief in pediatric cardiac surgical patients. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided MICB was effective and comparable to ESPB for post-sternotomy pain management in pediatric cardiac surgical patients.

Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain is defined as pain localized in the anatomical region of the SI joint. The reported prevalence of SI joint pain among patients with mechanical low back pain varies between 15% and 30%. ⋯ SI joint pain should ideally be managed in a multidisciplinary and multimodal manner. When conservative treatment fails, corticosteroid injections and radiofrequency treatment can be considered.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with spinal anesthesia for hemorrhoidectomy: a randomized clinical trial.
We aimed to compare the analgesic effects and incidence of urinary retention between ultrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with low-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia and conventional-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia post-hemorrhoidectomy. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with low-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia provides good anesthesia and analgesia for hemorrhoidectomy.

Persistent pain following breast surgery is common and may be challenging to treat. In patients refractory to conservative treatments, ultrasound-guided fascial plane blocks of thoracic nerves can be a useful option. ⋯ This technical review aims to present an up-to-date summary of the most common ultrasound-guided fascial plane blocks for chronic pain in post-breast surgery patients, provide a detailed technical description of each intervention, and propose preferred injections based on the anatomical location of the pain.
