KRAS gain-of-function mutations are frequently observed in sporadic arteriovenous malformations. The mechanisms underlying the progression of such KRAS-driven malformations are still incompletely understood, and no treatments for the condition are approved. ⋯ Both patients had rapid reductions in symptoms and arteriovenous malformation size. Targeting KRAS G12C appears to be a promising therapeutic approach for patients with KRAS G12C-related vascular malformations. (Funded by the European Research Council and others.).

Psychiatric conditions are one of the leading non-battle injury diseases resulting in medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) from combat environments. The challenge of limited MEDEVAC capability necessitating prolonged field care in future large-scale combat operations must be addressed. Therefore, a robust program is needed to address frontline care of behavioral health (BH), maximizing service members returning to duty and minimizing MEDEVAC. This review summarizes the literature on the impacts of the Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing (EmPATH) Unit program as a solution to the challenges of treating behavioral health in future wars. ⋯ This is the first literature review to consider EmPATH units for psychiatric prolonged field care based on its advantages demonstrated in the civilian sector. Studies have yet to be done on EmPATH units' usefulness in the military, showing a knowledge gap in current evidence supporting its suitability. Thus, this review recommends further studies of EmPATH units in military settings, especially prolonged field care environments.

Low-Dose Corticosteroids for Critically Ill Adults With Severe Pulmonary Infections: A Review.
Severe pulmonary infections, including COVID-19, community-acquired pneumonia, influenza, and Pneumocystis pneumonia, are a leading cause of death among adults worldwide. Pulmonary infections in critically ill patients may cause septic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, or both, which are associated with mortality rates ranging between 30% and 50%. ⋯ Treatment with low-dose corticosteroids is associated with decreased mortality for patients with severe COVID-19 infection, severe community-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and moderate to severe Pneumocystis pneumonia (for patients with HIV). Low-dose corticosteroids may also benefit critically ill patients with respiratory infections who have septic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, or both.

To analyze the reasons for stopping pressurized intraperitoneal aerosolized chemotherapy (PIPAC) delivered for unresectable peritoneal surface malignancies (PSM) and to determine survival in a large patient cohort of an experienced PIPAC center. ⋯ The main reason for stopping PIPAC treatment in palliative management of PSM is disease progression. When 3 or more PIPAC procedures can be delivered in combination to systemic chemotherapy, survival is significantly improved. Its use should be validated by prospective studies.

Retrospective cohort. ⋯ This study suggests that in patients with T2DM, semaglutide treatment is not associated with higher rates of short-term adverse events after CSDF. The effect of semaglutide use on long-term outcomes remains unknown.
