Ectopic pheochromocytomas in the third trimester: A case report and literature review.
To investigate the clinical features, pregnancy care, timing, and approaches of pregnancy termination as well as the perinatal management of pregnant women with ectopic pheochromocytomas (EPCC) (paragangliomas, PGL). ⋯ EPCC (PGL) during pregnancy is a rare extra-adrenal tumor, whose manifestations are often confused with those of pregnancy-induced hypertension. It is extremely hard to diagnosis the disease before surgery. Patients still have an opportunity of undergoing spontaneous delivery if their tumors have been removed before labor. However, for patients whose pheochromocytomas is localized before labor, it is better to terminate their pregnancy via cesarean section in a proper time according to their obstetric conditions, while under the supervision of multidisciplinary specialists. The preparations of both α and β adrenergic receptor blocker treatment that is normally carried out before PGL removal surgery are unnecessary to be overemphasized before the cesarean section.

Radiation therapy results in radiation-induced vasculopathy, characterized by alterations in the vascular architecture stemming from radiation exposure. The exact molecular pathways and associated pathologies of this condition have yet to be comprehensively understood. This study aimed to identify specific markers' roles in cerebral vascular endothelial injury pathogenesis after radiosurgery and explore their unique expression patterns in diverse pathologies post-stereotactic radiosurgery. ⋯ Despite the varied long-term effects of radiotherapy on the vascular endothelium, a common thread of inflammation runs through the pathology of these conditions. The distinct patterns of marker expression identified in our study suggest that different markers play unique roles in the development of radiation-induced vasculopathy. These findings offer insights that could lead to the development of novel preventive strategies and treatments.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a common malignant tumor. Identification of biomarkers and understanding their potential functions will facilitate the treatment and diagnosis in LUAD patients. The yellow module (cor = 0.31, P = 2e-6) was selected as the core module based on weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) by integrating RNA-seq data and tumor stage. ⋯ Among which, FOXF1 was downregulated and TFAP2A was upregulated in TCGA-LUAD cohort. Both TFs showed a significantly positive correlation with the expression level of PLAU. In conclusion, we identified 2 biomarkers related to immune response and achieved a good accuracy in predicting OS in patients with LUAD.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of subthreshold micropulse laser (SML) combined with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME). ⋯ SML in combination with anti-VEGF drugs in patients with DME are comparable in reducing the number of anti-VEGF drugs injections and CMT, thereby reducing the financial burden on patients. It does not differ in best-corrected visual acuity and total macular volume.

The incidence and mortality rates of cardiovascular diseases are on the rise globally, posing a severe threat to human health. Atherosclerosis (AS) is considered a multi-factorial inflammatory disease and the main pathological basis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, as well as the leading cause of death. ⋯ The Chinese herbal medicine clinicians frequently utilize Yiqi Huoxue Huatan recipe, an effective therapeutic approach for the management of AS. This article reviews the correlation between the main components of Yiqi Huoxue Huatan recipe and the gut microbiota and AS to provide new directions and a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of AS.
